Lot 539

George III mahogany dining table, rectangular pull-out top, D-ends, reeded edge, turned fluted legs on castors, concertina action, width 132cm, height 75cm, top 68cm x 62cm, together with three leaves, each 69cm wide.Condition report:The three additional leaves would appear to be original with fir colour uniformity to the top surfaces (faded similarly to the fixed leaves and drop leaves) and the undersides also have a uniform colour (darker than the tops). One leaf has a large patch of unusual colour striping to the centre, and smaller patches elsewhere - almost like zebra stripes. Another leaf has several deep scratches running across the grain (three scratches measuring 5cm, 7cm, and 4cm). \The third leaf (the middle leaf as per the image of it fully extended) has lighter and shallower surface scratching. The fixed leaves have numerous historic scratches and spots of staining. All-in-all it would benefit a professional refinish. The leaves don't show any signs of warping or sagging in the mechanism, which is a little stiff but it does conertina out quite well and back again. All leaves (additional and fixed) had slight splits through the planks where the table clip brackets are attached. All clips are present and fit securely. Various other random faint split lines extending elsewhere around the edging of the fixed and additional leaves. The ends of each leaf show signs of scratching and wear from being put down and stored over the years.Height to the skirt 61cm.

Otherwise historic marks to the top as you might expect, no splits. There are some splits to the gallery sides. Back all looks original. Some wear to the interior of the end cupboards and central drawer. Knocks and marks to the supports. Remains solid and sound in the frame.
