Catherine Mary Wass, OBE (1942-2021) most likely inherited from the 7th Viscount Gort in 1975 from Hamsterley Hall, Co. Durham Condition Report: There are scuffs, scratches, cracks, knocks and abrasions consistent with age and use.Some sun fading to the right side. Water marks to the top of the base.There are losses and restorations including a cut to the right side of the cornice, an inset small rectangular patch below; a later moulding tot he right side of the top of the base; some small veneers torn, missing, replaced, filled and re-fixed; marks from previous handles; lacking a part of the moulding to the central door; running repairs to the astragals; the upper shelves are not fixed; these shelves have tooled leather shaped trims that are dry with some tears and scuffing; there are adjustable shelves to the base.The locks are later, there is one old key, three later keys that operate the locks.There are horizontal back boards to the top, panelled backboards to the base, some splits.Please refer to the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition.Condition Report Disclaimer

He first moved to London in 1963 to study Law, but later began a career in the arts. He is a successful artist and important commissions include his busts of former Jamaican Prime Minister Sir Alexander Bustamante, the cricketer Gary Sobers, the writer and historian C L R James, the politician Lord Pitt, and the writer and publisher John La Rose. Lloyd is an author of books for children and teenagers. His novel 'Many Rivers to Cross' (1995) was nominated for the Carnegie Medal, and he has also worked as a successful book illustrator. Invariably signs of age and use, with some movement between the two planks of the top, some old marks, scratches, dents commensurate with use and age to the top, legs and stretchers. Some later rails and repairs, with some brackets replaced, feet re-tipped, later rails to the undersides and patch repair to open of the long stretcher. Together with other areas. Some minor old worm, notably to the underside corner. Please see additional images.

Mahogany sofa table, late 19th century, rosewood crossbanding with Greek Key boxwood stringing, canted end leaves, two frieze drawers, turned end supports joined by a double stretcher, width (closed) 111cm, depth 69cm, height 73cm.Condition report:There is obvious colour variation between the top and drop ends. One corner to the top has a split through the veneer, approximately 15cm in length. There is another triangular spliced patch repair to the veneer to the opposing corner, and another patch repair just above, Various random lengths of stringing to the outlines are missing. The vase section is very dry but is generally ok without any obvious breaks or splits to the supports or stretchers. It has the feel that it has been in outbuildings for some time. With some work it could return to being a handsome table.
Continental mahogany and kingwood chest of drawers, Louis XV style, bombe form, with serpentine marble top, gilt metal appliques, width 99cm, depth 53cmm height 81cm.Condition report:Some small patch losses to the veneer, for instance on the bottom of the front apron, but in general it is in good condition. The top is clean and free of any chips or cracks. The chest itself is sound and free from any splits or substantial damages. Light staining to the drawer linings. The metal appliques are a little crude in the casting but that is down to the period of manufacture.
