English School, 20th century, Portrait of a horse, unsigned, oil on canvas, 60.5 x 73.5cm, 23.75 x 29in.Condition report: The painting is in good, restored condition. There is craquelure across the surface of the painting and some minor flecks of paint loss, most notably in the sky area. There is a patch on verso with corresponding overpainting. Under UV light there is evidence of overpainting and restoration. The painting is ornately framed but not glazed.
Arthur Trevor Haddon (British 1864-1941), "Fruit Stall, Venice", signed, titled on mount, oil on canvas, 39.5 x 59.5cm, 15.5 x 23.5in.Condition report: The painting is in fair, restored condition. There is extensive craquelure across the surface of the painting and a patch on verso with corresponding overpainting. Under UV light there is evidence of extensive overpainting and restoration. The painting is framed but not glazed.
Two late 18th Century Bilston enamel oval patch boxes, circa 1770, one pink, the other blue enamel, each with a motto to the cover, 'A Present from Banbury' and 'A Trifle from Yarmouth, Isle of Wight', mirrored inner covers, width 4cm. Together with an early 19th century example. Size 4.5cm. Condition; Both 18th century ones have some chips and cracks to enamel and internal mirror of the pink one is cracked. Both hinges good. 19th century one has internal mirror cracked, cracks to enamel on top and two small chips, also some cracks to internal enamel. Hinge good.

A fine and rare Service Dress tunic of the distinctive pale khaki cavalry twill material worn by the Bays, with patch breast pockets and internal pockets below the waist. Fitted with worn QVC regimental mounted buttons and Colonel’s scarlet gorget patches. Medal ribbons of the OBE, MVO,WW1 and WW2 (including the Africa Star), GSM ’18 and 1937 Coronation. Rank badges absent otherwise VGC ... A blue serge patrol jacket, with patch pockets and regimental KC brass buttons. Medal ribbons much as on the Service Dress. Metal badges absent from shoulder-straps otherwise GC ... An officer’s universal pattern greatcoat, also with KC regimental buttons, and metal rank-badges for a Brigadier Near VGC. (3 items)Attributed to Maj.-Gen. Evelyn Dalrymple Fanshawe. His was a noted Queen’s Bays family. His father, a Lieut.-Gen., had commanded them, and was later Col. of the regiment. Commissioned into the Bays in 1914, Evelyn served in the RFC 1915-19. He commanded the Bays for their final phase as mounted cavalry. The QVC buttons were probably his father’s.
An early 19th century New Hall porcelain tea bowl, of wrythen form; together with a pair of late 18th century Worcester blue and white bowls, each with under glazed blue floral decoration within scalloped edge (3). Generally OK condition.Some minor nibbles throughout.One piece has a patch of discolouration to the centre – possibly glue from a previous sticker.
19th century Stobwasser style circular snuff box and cover, decorated with a tavern scene, 4.75" diameter, rectangular horn snuff box inlaid with mother of pearl, oval enamel patch box inscribed Windsor Toy, Pratt Ware 'Blind Man's Buff' jar and cover and a plated circular pill box, all at fault (5)
Follower of Emile Jean Horace Vernet (1789-1863), Soldier on horseback oil on canvas, signed with initials 'GS' lower right, unframed 13 x 16in. (33 x 40.5cm.) * Condition: 'Horace Vernet' inscribed to back of canvas in ink. Quite a thick layer of varnish across canvas, which may be blocking varnish as very little is visible under UV apart from apparent strengthening to bridge and other figure detail. Large patch of visible restoration to the upper right margin and smaller spot of restoration to the back of saddle cloth. Some paint flakes and abrasions to edges of canvas. Small spot of tiny paint flakes towards lower right corner. Scratch to back of mane and two others between horse's front and back legs.
A 19th Century Calvert style chess set, red stained and natural, well turned, the king 10.3cm. high, the pawns 4.3cm. high. (complete); together with a 19th century mahogany cased travelling chess set with red stained and natural ivory pieces, the board 9¼in. (23.5cm.) square; and a 19th century Chinese export chinoiserie lacquered folding chess / backgammon board. (3) * Condition: Chess set: One white bishop with small chip to mitre. Old glue to threaded joint below one white knight's head. Red queen - worn patch to red stain to ball to top. Two chips to turning on red king. A few tiny frits to collars on pawns. Red pieces have a few rubs and tiny scratches to stained colour. One red knight has heavier wear to detail on head.- Travelling chess set: Very good. Complete. Some rubbing to polish around holes on board squares from placing of pieces during play. Dark spirit stain to wood to border of board in one corner. Exterior has some light scratches and scuffs to surface.- Chinese board: Fair condition - heavy wear to lacquer to exterior and chips/flakes to edges. Interior has some gilt wear and large crack across lacquer to one side. Lacks catch to keep closed.
A good 19th century French ormolu, porcelain and white marble drum clock, the white 5in. dial with black Roman numerals, fronting an eight day twin train movement, no. 22339, striking the hours/half hours on a bell, in a fluted drum case with foliate and floral swagged plinth with central Sevres style plaque with floral bouquet, the moulded serpentine white marble base with gadrooned toupie feet, 11 1/8in. (28.25cm.) high, on a serpentine giltwood and red velvet stand and later ebonised base with glass dome. *Condition:In fine, restored condition. Winds and runs, strikes correctly. Dial excellent. A few tiny nicks to lower edge of marble. Small patch of verdigris tarnish to centre bottom of back panel on clock. A few rubs to edges of giltwood stand. Velvet faded and has some wear. With later key.
Arthur George Bell R.I. / R.O.I. (British, 1849-1916), 'Penn Ponds Richmond Park' oil on board, signed 'Arthur G. Bell' lower right, inscribed verso 9¼ x 12½in. (23.5 x 31.75cm.) * Condition: Board a little bowed. Would benefit from cleaning. Examined under UV - some small scattered retouches and a larger patch of retouching/repainting to centre upper left in sky, from the left margin across over the top of the sun.
An extremely rare Louis Vuitton zinc and brass Explorer's 'Malle Cabine' cabin trunk, circa 1885, with paper label to inside back, numbered 33846, the London address in Bond Street erased and changed to '454 The Strand', the interior lined in cream linen, with lift-out tray, the exterior covered in zinc with brass and wood bindings, brass handles and locks, the underside with iron roller castors, 29½ x 17 x 13½in. (75 x 43.25 x 34.25cm.). * The rare zinc covered trunks manufactured by Louis Vuitton in the 1880s and were specifically designed with the requirements of intrepid travellers to hot and humid climes, where the hermetically sealed design of the zinc trunk was invaluable for keeping the contents free from water, insects and dust, as well as the usual ability of the award winning locks in keeping out thieves. * Condition: Very original condition - has not been polished, no alterations. The exterior with several old liner & hotel labels, some of which are only partial. There are some dents & creases to the zinc thoughout the exterior, with one tiny hole to lower right corner of front panel (4 x 3mm.). No other holes or splits. There is a large oxidised patch to the surface of the zinc to the right hand side panel, but otherwise there is a good patina throughout. The brass edging has some dents and dings throughout and one deep line indent to the centre back of lid. No losses or splits. There is scratching and small surface splinter losses to the wooden straps and the rails on the underside have heavier wear. The castors have some surface rust. The right hand handle is slightly bent. The lock plate has been prised off in the past - one corner is bent upwards and the rivets are missing, but there is no other damage to the either the plate or the front of the trunk. The catch is locked and there is no key. The interior has some foxing and damp spotting to the cloth throughout and some white mould bloom to one side of the base. The strip of cloth inside the front edge of the lid is loose. There are worn patches through the cloth at the ends of both tray runners. The tray itself is in fairly poor condition - the wood is damaged to both the front and back and there are holes to the cloth around this damage. The base cloth in the tray is detached at one end. The label is good, with some small losses along a crease line in the underlying fabric (just above the medals) and there is a scratch top right in the white background. The recessed inside edge of the lid originally had a putty type material forming the seal - this is mostly now missing, with only remnants remaining.
A pair of Royal Worcester porcelain figures of water carriers, modelled by James Hadley, the classical maidens in green and copper satin lustre drapery, raised on gilt lined socles, green printed marks and date cipher for 1910, 15in. (38cm.) high. (2) *Condition: Green cloaked figure has a patch of restoration to front of amphora - glossy finish to glaze to the lower half on front. Some gilt flaking and losses to urn on head and socle. The other figure very good, with no faults.

THE JAM SETTING SONS 1979 JACKET. An original 'biker' style jacket issued for the Jam's 1979 'Setting Sons' tour. Embroidered patches to sleeve read 'Polydor Records' and 'No 1'. Label reads 'The Watkins Group Made In USA Size M'. Large patch to back with 'Setting Sons' image. Jacket shows creasing and areas of light damage. Collected by a veteran roadie, active on tours with major artists throughout the 1970s - 90s.

(51cm.) high (bald spot to right cheek, some thinning and wear, patch over hole on damaged right hand pad and glue/paint to feet pads, this is scratching off, so potentially could be improved to a light grey stain)
A 1920s British teddy bear, with blonde mohair, orange and black glass eye, patch over other, pronounced muzzle, black stitched nose and remains of mouth, swivel head, jointed limbs, replace leather feet pad only and hump —14in. (35.5cm.) high (missing eye and worn); and a small Tara Laughing teddy bear
An extremely rare white Steiff 35PB rod joint bear 1904, With shaggy white mohair, black boot button eyes, pronounced muzzle, extremely rare original gutta percha nose, pink stitched mouth, swivel head with seam from ear to ear across top of head, rod-jointed elongated limbs, excellently replaced felt pads, thick wool five claws, hump and firm stuffing —21in. (53.5cm.) high (neat repair to right wrist, small patch to tip of right toe and slight general wear and thinning) — the Steiff 35PB and 28PB are the earliest bear available to buy, made in 1904, the second model after the original 55PB. The 35 is the height in centimetres in a seated position and the P is for plush and the B is for beweglich (jointed). The white example is much scarcer than the golden bear and they are pre the name Teddy, so just called bears. PLEASE NOTE THIS BEAR HAS AN ADDITIONAL 5% IMPORT VAT TO BE PAID ON THE HAMMER PRICE

(33cm.) high (holes to pads, one with patch, slight general wear and missing one mouth stitch) — this bear is known as Rose from the Wendy Jaques collection.
A British teddy bear with provenance circa 1928, with golden mohair, pronounced muzzle, swivel head, jointed limbs with cloth pads and inoperative growler —22in. (56cm.) high (replaced ears, eyes and some black stitching, patch to muzzle, worn); and three small original photographs of the bear with his owner - M. Bear was the childhood toy of Audrey Forgreen and was given to her on her first birthday in 1928, a letter that comes with this bear details their life together
