Lot 223

A Chinese carved ivory cheroot holder, early 20th century, carved as a dragons head with part scale body, 14 cm long, together with an ivory cigarette case, circa 1920, signed with initials F.W. 8.5 cm. FOR EU EXPORT ONLY CONDITION REPORT: The cheroot holder has a small chip to the bottom of the rim of the aperture. There is a 1.5 x 5 mm stained section to the underside of the belly of the dragon. There are some chatter marks around the mouth piece. Otherwise this appears to be in good decorative order. The cigarette case has a stained patch beneath the engraved initials. The initials look to be by an amateur hand. The case appears to be free from an chips, cracks or damage. The cheroot holder weight 18.3 grams. The cigarette case weighs 45.6 grams.

Lot 307

Three Beswick graduated wall mounted seagulls, Model Nos. 922-1 through to 922-3, printed marks and inscribed "61". Tallest +/- 30 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: On the back of the large seagull there is a very fine 5 cm hairline crack but on further inspection it looks to be a crack that is only within the glaze. There is a small brown patch +/- 1 cm x 5 mm beneath the birds neck on the wall hanging side. There are no signs of any chips or any further cracks, repairs or restoration. The remaining two smaller gulls appear to be both free from any chips, cracks, repairs or restorations. The bodies on all have crazed glazing. All are intact but there are very minor surface scratches which are not instantly obvious. Overall in rather good condition.

Lot 632

A Clarice Cliff bizarre octagonal plate, circa 1929, having an orange scroll centre outlined in black between black, orange, blue and yellow borders, printed mark impressed 29. diameter 22.8 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The body appear to be free from any obvious chips, cracks or restorations. The decoration to the centre is generally good however there is a small group of surface pin pricks to the base of the large red scroll. The inner black band border has a few pinhead size surface scratches. The outer black border has a small patch of surface scratches (located at 11 o'clock if on a clock face). The rim is free from any chips. The plate rings out nicely when lightly tapped. The underside has the black transfer Bizarre by Clarice Cliff mark and is also impressed 8/29 above a diamond shape lozenge. Most of the faults mentioned should be visible if you use the zoom facility on the website.

Lot 1057

A gentleman's brushed felt top hat, the watered silk interior with applied printed stencil for "Extra Quality, West End Style", with International Award medallions. Interior measurement 20 cm x 16 cm, in Dunn & Co., Hat Makers of London box. CONDITION REPORT: The interior dimensions of the hat are 20 cm front to back and 16 cm left to right. The overall height of the hat is 16 cm, the overall width is 25 cm. Overall the hat and brushed felt appear to be in good order on the exterior. There is a small patch of silk lining to the interior +/- 5 cm x 6 cm which is missing or damaged. The interior leather band is inscribed in purple ink "Matten". The cardboard hat box from Dunn & Co shows signs of wear and tear commensurate with age and has a D shaped split between the D and the full stop after London. Within the box are two pairs of fairly distressed leather gloves with Dents special buttons, two hat bands and a tie.

Lot 1258

A 19th century papier mache tray, of shaped outline decorated with gilt scrolls and inlaid with mother of pearl. Length 81 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is a patch to the lower right hand quarter where the decoration has been erased. There are ringed marks throughout. There is a rim to border crack at the top right hand corner. There is a chip to the top centre rim. There is a further chip to the right hand edge. The bottom centre rim is missing its point. There are numerous surface scratches as one would expect on the underside. A tired example.

Lot 551

A George V silver inkwell, I M Hutchfield, Birmingham, date letter erased, an Edwardian silver mounted and cut glass inkwell, Walker & Hall, Sheffield 1904, and a silver mounted and glass horseshoe inkwell, circa 1908. CONDITION REPORT: The cut glass example appears to be in good order throughout with no obvious large chips or cracks. The underside has numerous surface scratches as one would expect. The silver lid and mount are in good order. On the horseshoe shaped example there are three small black marks on the lid and a very small indentation but nothing too detrimental. There is no interior stopper. There are some very tiny nibbles at the front top and bottom rims, these are not instantly obvious but can be viewed using a magnifying glass. The reminder of the glass body is in good order. There is no glass line on the silver example. The date letter is almost erased. There are small minor dints to the edge but nothing overly detrimental. There is a very small patch of plaster of Paris missing from the underside but this will have no impact on the silver. Generally, in good order throughout.

Lot 663

A 19th century English naive School, study of a hunter in stables with chickens, unsigned, oil on canvas. 60.5 cm x 73 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is a small patch to the rear of the canvas to the centre right of the horse, this is visible from the front where there is a crush mark and presumably a hole. Other than this the painting is in generally good order. It is a little faded and somewhat dirty. The original frame and gilt slip are not in particularly good condition. The gilt slip has some losses and the simulated rosewood frame whilst structurally sound has surface scratches and marks.

Lot 286

A good Vienna porcelain cabinet cup and saucer, date code 1864, the cup decorated with a panel of Psyche and two cupids within a naturalistic landscape all within a gilt border with raised geometric decorations, turquoise blue ground and further gilt urn and fruiting vine decoration, the handle with foliate terminal, factory mark to the underside and impressed 864 and 30 and with further impression, the saucer with turquoise ground, decorated with gilt vases, foliate scrolls and fruiting vines, with under glazed blue shield mark and impressed 819 and 49 (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The cup appears to be in good order throughout. The gilding throughout is good. The handle has small berry and branch decoration also in gilding which is in good order. There appear to be no obvious faults or any signs of restoration. On the underside there is a patch of scratch marks across the number 864. The decoration on the saucer appears to be in good order throughout with no obvious faults or signs of restoration. The exterior sides of the saucer have a small textured glazed tide mark approx 5-6 mm in height along the bottom of the sides. All in all a nice decorative attractive piece.

Lot 958

A 19th century Lachenal and Co 31 button accordion, with fretwork ends and with applied paper label for Lachenal & Co manufacturers London and verso with serial No. 178561. The hand rest impressed English make, steel reeds. All within original plush lined fitted box with label and ivorine plaque for Douglas & Co, 7 South Street, London (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The bellows all appear to be in good order with no signs of any holes or tears. There is varnish wear around the hand grips. There is a small patch of varnish wear on the point directly above the hand grips. The fretwork on both sides appears to be intact with no signs of any cracks. It bears the original label. The side with 16 buttons has a small fingernail size patch of veneer missing to the right of the central buttons but it is not a break. Overall in good playable condition. The box interior is plush and clean, the lid retains the original label. The exterior handle to the case is missing. There is the odd knock on the edge of the case but nothing again that is too detrimental and more commensurate with age, wear and tear. The lock and lock plate are missing from the lid and the main body. The outer case retains its ivorine label.

A high-ranking German Third Reich RAD tunic constructed of smooth forest green wool with dark chocolate brown collar flanked on either side by collar tabs for an Oberarbeitsfuhrer, the right arm with downward pointing shovel insignia with Roman numerals ‘XXVII’ patch and a cotton NSDAP party armband, the front of the tunic has four pockets each with single pebbled button the top left breast with two vertically-aligned horizontal loops in black thread to accommodate a vertical pinback award, the tunic breast flaps with six pebbled buttons meeting six reinforced button holes, the reverse of the tunic two further buttons and a reinforced vertical slit at the bottom centre, allowing for a comfortable fit, the interior lined in brown rayon and with label ‘”Bulag Munchen”

A George III mahogany bureau bookcase, the upper section with astral glazed cabinet doors enclosing adjustable shelving over two candle slides and a sloping fall enclosing a fitted interior with drawers and pigeonholes flanking a central cupboard door with deed drawers over long graduated drawers with brass swan neck handles to bracket feet CONDITION REPORTS 106cm x 218 cm x 58 cm approx. Has some staining/discolouration to the wood through out. No keys. Candle slides are a bit sticky. Somer drawer liners are split. Minor loses through out. Some spliting to the sides, one side is consdierably darker than the other. There is a patch to the wood at the lock at the front of the fall front.
