Three: Private E. F. Butson, Somerset Light Infantry, who was killed in action on the Western Front on 18 August 1916 1914-15 Star (10312 Pte E. F. Butson, Som: L.I.); British War and Victory Medals (10312 Pte. E. F. Butson. Som. L. I.); Memorial Plaque (Edward [sic] Frederick Butson) small patch of verdigris on back of star, otherwise generally very fine (4) £120-£160 --- Edwin Frederick Butson was born in Barton Hill, Bristol, and attested there for the Somerset Light Infantry. He served with the 6th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 21 May 1915, and was killed in action on 18 August 1916, on which date the Battalion was involved in an attack on Delville Wood, suffering a total of 280 casualties. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France. Sold with two unofficial commemorative medals.

George III walnut bureau, the top and front with herring bone stringing, fitted interior with pigeon holes, drawers, cupboard and a well, two short and two long graduating drawers under, bracket feet, width 96cm, depth 55cm, height 10cm.Condition report:Really nice colour throughout, the top has a couple of patch repairs, fall is good, slightly warped around the lock, interior has two drawers missing, a couple of moulded sections missing and the well has been baize covered, drawers are sound and run well, replaced handles, some small veneer loss to drawer fronts, minor veneer loss to mid section moulding, replaced feet.

Moyr Smith, many tinted, tissue-guards (one working loose), illustrations, ink ownership inscriptions to front free endpaper, the odd spot or patch of finger-soiling, gutter weak, some scattered spotting to endpapers, original morocco-backed dark blue cloth, gilt, quite rubbed with a few patches of soiling, spine with small loss to foot, t.e.g., others uncut, folio, Bernard Quaritch, 1892.⁂ Rare, the last copy appearing at auction in 1921. The illustrator, John Moyr Smith, was a Scottish architect who produced ceramic tiles for Minton, including pictorial tiles depicting themes from Shakespeare.
