Original vintage three sheet movie poster for the James Bond adventure thriller film Thunderball, directed by Terence Young and starring Sean Connery in the title-role, along with Claudine Auger, Adolfo Celi, Lois Maxwell and Guy Doleman. Released in 1965, this film was the fourth in the James Bond series, and it was the first shot in widescreen Panavision. This fantastic poster was designed by Robert McGinnis & Frank McCarthy and features three images depicting scenes from the film: the one at the top shows Sean Connery wearing his trademark black tie suit (tuxedo) holding a gun and shooting up using a jet pack on his back as people try to shoot him down; the image in the centre shows Sean Connery wearing an orange suit and fighting underwater with a person in a black scuba suit holding a knife; the final image at the bottom shows Jamed Bond in a scuba diving outfit surounded with glamourous James Bond girls in bikinis. Along each of the images features respectively the words: 'Look Up', 'Look Down' and 'Look Out' while the title is displayed at the bottom, along with the tagline: Here comes the biggest Bond off all! Thunderball is a 1965 spy film and the fourth in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions, starring Sean Connery as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Ian Fleming, which in turn was based on an original screenplay by Jack Whittingham. It was the third and final Bond film to be directed by Terence Young, with its screenplay by Richard Maibaum and John Hopkins. The movie would have been the first of the Bond series if not for legal disputes over copyright issues. The film follows Bond's mission to find two NATO atomic bombs stolen by SPECTRE, which holds the world to ransom for £100 million in diamonds, in exchange for not destroying an unspecified major city in either the United Kingdom or the United States (later revealed to be Miami). The search leads Bond to the Bahamas, where he encounters Emilio Largo, the card-playing, eye patch-wearing SPECTRE Number Two. Backed by CIA agent Felix Leiter and Largo's mistress, Domino Derval, Bond's search culminates in an underwater battle with Largo's henchmen. The film had a complex production, with four different units and about a quarter of the film consisting of underwater scenes. Fair condition, three sheets poster, restored folds and minor losses, repaired tears in margins, staining, light fading. Country: USA, year of printing: 1965, designer: Robert McGinnis & Frank McCarthy, size (cm): 105x211

A 1920's chinoiserie lacquered standard lamp, with matching table lamp. CONDITION REPORT: Both lights require wiring. The table lamp column is slightly faded and the knop beneath the light fitting has a crazed patina. There is a very small 1 cm x 5 mm light patch to the centre of the stem. The chinoiserie decoration around the base all appears to be in good order with no losses from the raised parts. The fine turned knops at the base of the column have tiny rub marks which in our opinion are not too detrimental. The standard lamp has gilt rubbing around the two upper turned knops below the light fitting. The stem has some scuff marks and small scratches. There is a very fine 5 cm light indentation in the base decoration which goes through a raised flower. Some of the flowers on the base have their raised decoration missing. The base is also decorated with a building which has small sections of its roof missing on both parts. The feet and gilded sections of the base have knocks and gilt rubbing. The base is also decorated with two figures both of which have small parts of their moulded decoration missing.
A Regency mahogany turnover top card table, with carved beaded edge, with baize interior surface, upon four splayed supports upon quadripartite base in turn above four downswept reeded legs terminating in brass capped castors. 92 cm wide, 76 cm high (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The top is a good uniform polished colour throughout with nice figuring. There is a small scratch to the rear right hand corner which could be polished out. There is a very fine 5 cm long line to the rear left corner but nothing too detrimental. There is a thumbnail size patch to the rear centre of the top which is slightly lighter than the remainder. The scroll supports terminate in small central buttons, there should actually be a larger rosette around these which are missing on all sides. One of the scrolls has a split through the base. Three of the legs have been broken at the ends and repaired. These each have a metal band aiding the restoration and support. Regardless of the faults mentioned this is still a rather attractive piece of furniture and is structurally sound.
