Rifle: A scarce Russian Brunswick rifle by F.J Malherbe of Liege. Known as the Model 1843 LUTTICH STUTZER rifle. Calibre .70. Brass furniture butt tang marked 'No 994' (highest recorded number we can find to date is 992). Large brass patch box numbered inside '4903'. Back action lock signed 'F.J. Malherbe Liege'. Steel rifled barrel 30" with bayonet bar. Walnut fullstock to muzzle. Oval escutcheon marked 'F.C.1' and double headed eagle motif which also appears on the heel of the buttplate. Crisp action on full & half cock. Rear sight is a 'V' notch, dovetailed into the barrel. This is a possible replacement as it is not the standard leaf issue for these rifles. Overall g.w.o. and condition (some cleaning to barrel). Original ramrod. Of the type issued to the Russian Imperial Guard.

An oak chest, of 18 small drawers, 106 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB Overall looks to have been stained at one point and someone is trying to get rid of the staining although they haven't really succeeded. The top has one large split to it, the drawers aren't bowed as such, they just don't quite fit perfectly on their stops, has has numerous sets of handles and locks, and you should be able to see patch repairs where the locks were. Overall a pretty size of chest, which would certainly benefit from some better and or professional restoration. 49 cm deep x 87 cm high

A Victorian walnut table, by Gillow, the top veneered in burr walnut, on shaped end supports joined by a turned and carved pole stretcher, stamped GILLOW, 91 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB Very much in a market fresh condition, the top is faded and with some water staining. There is a patch of veneer missing. The end supports are a much better colour, and have nice carved leaf roundels, ending in scroll feet, the turned and carved pole stretcher is in quite good condition too.

A George III mahogany chest, of four graduated long drawers, on bracket feet, 85 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB Period, but more provincial than being London made, from a private client who used to have a house in Park Lane, it is very much in a restored condition, the top is warped and patch repairs, and the drawer fronts bowed, the base has probably all been rebuilt. That being said it is not unattractive and would sit just as happily in a drawing room as a bedroom.

A 19th century inlaid mahogany table, with canted corners and a lift up top, on tapering square legs joined by a X stretcher, 49 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by RB The top has a ring stain to it, and is slightly bowed. On the underside of the lid there is a crack, although this is not visible from the top, the hinges look to have been replaced, and one has broken off badly from the base and has a crude repair to it which is not stained and has no crossbanding to it. A few areas of patch repairs, but overall is quite pretty, with satinwood inlay to the rear legs also. Generally dirty, market fresh.
