William Geldart - Petra ink study William Geldart (1936 - ) Petra signed ink 26.5 x 17cm.; 10.5 x 6.75in. * William Geldart showed at the Royal Academy in the Manchester area and at Geldart Gallery Henbury Macclesfield Cheshire. He wrote and illustrated 'Geldart's Cheshire'. Petra was a female mixed breed dog who appeared on the BBC children's programme Blue Peter. She was the first Blue Peter pet and remains one of the best known. She had several puppies including Patch who also became a Blue Peter pet and who predeceased her. There is a bust of Petra in the Blue Peter garden. It originally stood in front of BBC Television Centre but was moved to the garden in 1984 due to redevelopment works.
