A large oak bookcase, 1930s, with three sliding doors, three-quarter bevelled glass panels and inlaid details, 259cm wide 42cm deep 190cm high CONDITION REPORT: Reduced from a larger cabinet. Some knocks and scuffs. Patch to upright on left hand side. Staining from inlaid square decoration, onto lighter wood. There are holes to both ends suggesting that it was originally the centre section of a larger piece of furniture. Has adjustable shelves. Please view additional images (available upon request).
A set of four George I silver trencher salts, various makers, three London 1717/23/34, one Edinburgh 1725, of rectangular form with canted corners with plain oval central well, crested beneath the motto EXPUGNANT, 7cm long 5oz 15dwt. 1717 example misshapen due to impact damage at one end. Maker`s mark and date letter with wear but legible. Other marks heavily worn. 1723 example with minor impact damage. Maker`s mark obscured, others legible, Shadow marks visible to interior of salt. 1724 example with minor impact damage. Maker`s mark worn, others legible. Small patch repair to inside of salt. Edinburgh example slightly misshapen due to impact. Minor impact damage throughout. Repaired split to one side. Marks with wear but legible. All with some typical wear throughout. 221013
EARLY 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL IN THE MANNER OF SIR HENRY RAEBURN "Gentleman seated with white stock, black waistcoat and jacket", portrait study, half length, oil on canvas, unsigned CONDITION REPORTS Overall with wear, dirt, craquelure and cracks to paint. Quite a few undulations to canvas. Various rips and tears which have accrued patch repairs to reverse of canvas and have been fillered and re-painted to front. These rips and holes appear to be mainly to the background plus one just to the left of his face. The holes do not appear to have affected the face itself. Under UV light, the restoration and repairs seem to be lower sections of clothing and to the background and to the left of his cheek. Face and collar / neck appear to be unrestored. A circa 1700 oak oval gate leg drop leaf dining table CONDITION REPORTS Has very heavy wear and tear, scratches, knocks, chips, etc. plus signs of old woodworm, the two drop leaves have splits, one of which has a large 25 cm x 3 cm patch, gate leg structure is very worn with old woodworm damage, as are the stretchers and feet.
