Maker`s mark and date letter with wear but legible. Other marks heavily worn. 1723 example with minor impact damage. EARLY 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL IN THE MANNER OF SIR HENRY RAEBURN "Gentleman seated with white stock, black waistcoat and jacket", portrait study, half length, oil on canvas, unsigned CONDITION REPORTS Overall with wear, dirt, craquelure and cracks to paint. Quite a few undulations to canvas. Various rips and tears which have accrued patch repairs to reverse of canvas and have been fillered and re-painted to front. These rips and holes appear to be mainly to the background plus one just to the left of his face. The holes do not appear to have affected the face itself. Under UV light, the restoration and repairs seem to be lower sections of clothing and to the background and to the left of his cheek. Face and collar / neck appear to be unrestored. Size approx 59 x 73cm
