A Victoria Diamond Jubilee commemorative leaded stained glass panel, the central oval bevelled clear glass cut with a diamond surrounding the etched royal crown, the whole set between cut turquoise cabochons within the antique textured stained glass with clear bevelled diamonds at the corners, each with an etched national symbol of the United Kingdom. 23.5x31cm. CONDITION REPORT: Generally good condition. All cut and etched panels undamaged. Some cracked pieces, four small losses in bottom right hand quarter. One solid patch 3x2cm. on border.

Tomasso de Simone (Italian, circa 1852-1857) The Royal Yacht Squadron schooner "Fortuna" reefed down in a gale; The dismasted "Fortuna" limping into Shanklin Bay, Isle of Wight with the lifeboat coming alongside; and The crew of the "Fortuna" being rowed to shore, 1886 oil on canvas (3) 50 x 77cm (20 x 30in) Provenance: From a Leicestershire country house and the great grandson of Adrian Elias Hope. The RYS Fortuna, a wooden schooner, was built for Adrian Elias Hope (1845-1919) by G. Inman at Lymington, circa 1876. She was registered at 192 tons and measured 130 feet in length with a 25 foot beam. Adrian Hope was the grandson of Thomas Hope of the Deepdene (1769-1831), the celebrated collector and furniture designer, in turn grandson of Thomas Hope who founded Hope and Co., the Dutch Bank.Fortuna in a gale: Unlined canvas. Tension slightly slack and stretcher bar marks present. Paint layer is in good condition. A few scattered retouchings. Varnish is clear and even with a few scuffs and scratches. Some wear to the gilding on the frame. Large patch on reverse securing old damage. Fortuna at Shanklin Bay: Lined canvas. Old damage at left side, with concave undulations in canvas, uneven texture and paint loss. Also scuffs to varnish in this area. Paint layer worn with areas of retouching covering other damage. Varnish dull but even. Crew being rowed to shore: Unlined canvas. Tension slightly slack and corner drawers present. A few losses to paint at lower left corner, otherwsie painting is in good condition. Varnish is dirty and discoloured with surface dirt. A few losses to decorative surface of frame. Attributed to John Closterman (German, 1660-1711) Portrait of a gentleman, head and shoulders, believed to be Daniel Wilson of Dallam Tower, Westmorland (1680-1754), in a red and gold braided jacket, white stock and high grey wig oil on canvas, oval 74 x 62cm (29 x 24in) Provenance: By descent within the family of the sitter at Redgrave Hall, Suffolk. Daniel Wilson of Dallam Tower was MP for Westmorland from 1729-1741; High Sheriff of Lancashire in 1727; and father of Thomas Wilson who married Lucinda Holt of Redgrave Hall, Suffolk, in 1752.Unlined canvas on an oval stretcher. Tension is poor, causing undulations in canvas. Two holes at bottom edge with paint loss. Old damage in sitter's chin mended with patch on reverse. Paint layer is cupped but generally stable. Varnish is very glossy and slightly yellowed - bloom is beginning to form in areas. Scuffs and scratches to the paint layer. Craquelure overall. Old stretcher bar marks can be seen from the front.
An early 18th century walnut lowboy, crossbanded border decoration to quartered veneers, fitted four small drawers on cabriole legs and pointed feet 70 x 79 x 47cm (27 x 31 x 18in) Evidence of old worm in the legs and top, faded and stained top with small split to one side and a small patch.

A rare and early Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons cream cotton jersey 'beggar' ensemble Spring-Summer, 1983, with Tricot labels the button-fronted over-sized blouse of elongated, asymmetric rectangular form with slits for armholes adorned with tattered ribbon appliqués; the skirt formed from randomly patch-worked jersey and calico panels (2) Some journalists at the time derisively described Kawakubo's aesthetic for this collection as the 'beggar look'. The fabrics were intentionally selected or treated as part of the production process to give a ragged or distressed look. This radical approach to fashion was diametrically opposite to Western fashions of the time and caused a sensation when first seen in Paris. See 'Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion' pp.44-45 for illustrations of similar 'distressed' effect ensembles and a reproduction of the image used in the Comme des Garçons Spring/Summer 1983 catalogue, photographed by Peter Lindbergh, which shows an almost identical blouse. A Christian Dior couture brown tweed day suit, Autumn-Winter, 1955, labelled and numbered 78752, the jacket with domed black buttons, the skirt with broad box pleats, bust 92cm, 36in, waist 66cm, 26in (2) CONDITION REPORT: Jacket: tweed is generally good, lining is very worn at the underarms, buttons have been moved to the edge of the jacket at waist and hip area to widen the closure. Skirt: black silk lining has been replaced at lower hem - but very well done. Skirt hem has been lowered. Grosgrain patch to hem return approx. 4x12cm (where a small panel was taken to extend the waistband). Waistband has been widened by 5cm.
A printed cotton day dress, circa 1825, roller-printed with teal-blue leaves and wine scrolling grasses, empire-line with puff sleeves, flounces to neck and cuffs, piped bands to hem, drawstring fastenings, bust approx 81cm, 32in CONDITION REPORT: small darned repair to left shoulder - concealed below frill, armholes may have been altered/deepened - stitching is a bit rough here, 20cm/8in tear to right hip area which has been almost invisibly repaired and re-backed. Small darn to left underarm and patch repair to sleeve. 2.5cm split at right underarm area on bodice. Repaired 4cm split to left puff sleeve and large insert panel at lower side of sleeve.
A Jeanne Lanvin couture robe de style, 'La Mascotte', Spanish collection, 1925, un-labelled, of ivory crêpe de chine edged in scarlet, with cross-over front panels, with red silk ties to waist, the skirt embroidered with chain stitched roundels in scarlet and ivory, edged in gold thread, the inner hem with stiffened scalloped band to hold the shape, bust approx. 86-92cm, 34-36in CONDITION REPORT: Both of the red armhole bands have been replaced with near matching silk as has the rear scarlet neck band. Ivory silk areas have been replaced over both shoulders. Ivory silk is splitting at rear left shoulder seam and hole in ivory silk. Fine splits are forming in the ivory silk directly below the replaced rear scarlet neck band within a fain stain line. Small split along the vertical seam line at left waist. Faint oval water mark to bodice on front right panel approx 6 by 2cm long. Fine splits forming to cream silk at rear left armhole area. The skirt with numerous fine splits, but particularly on the left and right sides. Centre back with stain and moth hole. Faint watermarks to red hem areas. Two darts have been added to the bodice and the side seams have been re-sewn along same lines as has the waistline. Stains on tip of one waist-tie. Cream silk patch to buckram stiffened inner hem panel. Centre back skirt has 14cm vertical repair in plain silk below waistband.

A 19th century Campaign chest of drawers, with two sections and with brass fittings and with detachable short turned legs. Width 105 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The top of the chest is in generally good condition with only old surface marks and scuffs. The left hand brass corner bracket is rubbed through to the timber underneath. The top left hand drawer has a repair to the left hand corner and there is evidence of a further old repair along the top edge. The right hand drawer has a repair below the handle plate. The brass binding between the two drawers on the upper half is split. The sides of the upper half are scratched and scuffed and have small repairs along both bottom edges. The top drawer of the bottom half has a patch on the left hand side and there has been a further repair to the right hand bottom section of the drawer. The bottom drawer has had some small repairs and is a little discoloured. The sides of the base are quite badly marked and scuffed with some losses. The bottom moulding beneath the bottom drawer is discoloured, scuffed and marked. All legs are present but quite badly worn and scuffed. The backboards are original.
A George III mahogany turnover top demi-lune table, raised on four turned legs terminating in pad feet. Width 69 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This table requires some restoration. The top is flat but scuffed and marked in places and there is a patch in both the left and right hand corners. The underside edge of the turnover top is also marked and scuffed with a patch by the hinge at the left hand side and above the hinge on the right hand side. The bottom half of the top has had repair also, the top appears to have been broken and a new section of mahogany inserted. The frieze is veneered in segments and there are cracks down the joins. The front leg has a strange configuration beneath the lock escutcheon. We would not normally have expected to see the top of the leg itself which would usually be behind the veneer. The front leg is in good order. The rear leg on the gate has been broken in half and joined. The right hand rear leg has been broken at the top and repaired. The left hand leg has had cracks. There are various other repairs to the carcass. Quite significant work would be needed to bring this table back to good condition.

(51cm.) high (patch and repairs to right arm, slight repair to top muzzle, balding to backs of legs, a glue area to back of left leg, slight damage and repairs to pads)
A cased Husun Star Globe by H. Hughes & Son Ltd., London, c.1920, the 7in. globe with lacquered brass horizon and meridian rings, paste-down instructions to lid, retailer's label for Capt. O. M. Watts Ltd. Yacht Equipment, London W1, in varnished wood case. * Condition: Globe in very good condition, with just minor scuffs to centre line and one small patch of loss to varnish to the line (below Altair) - approx. 1/8 x 1in. Complete with four brass meridien markers inside lid of case. Case good, but with some scratches and scuffing in places. Some brown staining to left side of instruction label.

A fine Victorian silver and parcel gilt table centre piece by Elkington & Co., Birmingham 1863, the 11in. clear and ruby cut glass dish with serrated rim above a central band of cut diamonds with ruby coloured hexagonal centres, enclosed by circle cut borders and above a star but base, supported upon an elegant Pompeian style silver and parcel gilt pedestal, the circular dish deposit with beaded rim on three supports above a tapering ovoid stem and circular foot bearing three crown pediments and twelve anthemion pendants to underside, on tripod supports with guilloche engraving to scroll rosette feet and gilt scroll brackets, on an anthemion decorated stepped circular base with scroll aprons supported on three gilt lion paw feet, impressed 'Elkington 753' with registration diamond to underside interior, 18in (45.7cm.) high, on matched Elkington shaped trefoil mirrored base, Frederick Elkington, Birmingham 1875, with trefoil husk border encompassing mirror plate, anthemion decoration and cartouches to parcel gilt exterior, three raised feet to mahogany underside, 12¼in. (31.2cm.) diameter. (3) * Condition: Base: Small silvering split and clouded patch to edge of mirror, plus one other dark line to silvering nearby. Marks good. No damage to silver. Minor rubbing to gilding to edges. Main section: Good, with no damage or repairs to silver. Minor wear to gilding to edges and raised detail. Circular hole to underside of urn beneath dish mount - possibly from earlier use as a lamp? Glass dish: Very good, with no damage.
A George V silver goblet, William Neale, Birmingham 1932, the round funnel bowl with inverted rim, on knopped stem with stepped pedestal foot, 4½in. (11.5cm.) high, weight 2.7 tr.oz. * Condition: Marks good. Three small dings to bowl, stem bent sideways a little. Dark tarnish patch to edge of foot.
A pair of Victorian miniature silver porringers, Lowe & Sons, Chester 1881, with twin beaded handles and half gadrooned decoration, 1 5/8in. (4.1cm.) high; together with a George VI silver toast rack, Birmingham 1937; and five pieces of silver flatware, weight 6.8 tr.oz. (8) * Condition: - Pair miniature porringers: Marks clear. Interiors heavily tarnished, and one has a patch of heavy tarnishing to exterior.- Toastrack: Good condition. Marks clear.- Flatware: Comprises - a Victorian fancy back christening fork & spoon set (Chawner & Co., London 1859-60), some wear to marks but still legible. Some wear to fruiting vine decoration. Fork tines bent inwards at tip. / Kings pattern teaspoon (London 1835, Mary Chawner) - Good condition / Two 20th century spoons - one good condition, the other has a slightly bent stem.
A pair of Japanese miniature cloisonné bottle vases, flared long neck with moth and floral decoration, with hardwood linked stands, together with a carved ivory angel fish netsuke, a/f. (3) * Condition: Two bad impact marks and loss of 5mm enamel patch to first vase, 3mm impact to second vase. 12mm piece of ivory missing to dorsal fin of fish.
A Chinese silk Mandarin's dragon robe, 18th / 19th century, rampant dragons and worked in couched gilt-wrapped threads surrounded by cloud scrolls, cranes, bats, floral subjects and other auspicious emblems, above a wide lishui border defined in brightly hued satin stitch, the collar and cuffs embroidered en suite on a black ground, approx. 59in. (149.8cm.) length from top neck to hem, approx 25in. 63.5cm. width under arm to under arm. * Condition: Colours good - no fading. Some damage to note as follows:Water stains to light blue inside silk lining around hem and also to corner of the 'hidden' panel behind front overlap. Some gold and silver metal thread stitching is loose in places on dragons and cuffs throughout. 3in. split to underarm joint on left hand side, with a small 1cm. square patch of damage to blue silk ground on both sides of split and some damage to the pale silk lining beneath. Gold ribbon on right hand side of collar slightly stained and dull. Slightly larger split to right hand underarm - has caused a 2in. split to the blue silk ground on the front and a 1cm. square patch of similar damage to the back. Centre seam on both back and front slightly loose to the middle, with some evidence of restitching. Small dark stain line to front of hem. Loop below underarm on front overlap panel has some repair stitching and a later metal popper has been fixed here , causing a crease to the fabric. The corresponding popper to the other side near the button has been removed.
A Kangxi period Chinese blue and white ceramic saucer dish, six character Kangxi mark (1662-1722) and of the period, decorated with central pictorial of finely painted dragons chasing flaming pearls, the slightly everted rim with wave and crayfish border, the exterior with four alternating single and double flowering plants, on shallow circular foot, 8in. (20.3cm.) diameter. ** Condition: Star of glaze cracks to centre of base. These are not visible from the exterior - purely in the glaze. Some pinhead air bubbles to glaze to underside (including a line of bubbles to outside of base) which have some brown discoluration to the surrounding glaze. There is also a small patch of this discoluration around one of the glaze cracks. One tiny pinhead glaze frit beneath rim. A few light scratches to glaze in well.
A Wedgwood blue and white 'Ferrara' pattern bowl, 19th century, impressed 'Wedgwood', 9in.(22.8cm.) diameter; together with a Cauldon blue and white bowl; a pair of Mason's Willow pattern plates; and a Stone China plate. (5) * Condition: - Wedgwood bowl: Star glaze crack to base. Some glaze scratching to interior. - Cauldon bowl: Several rust patch marks to inside glaze.- Masons plates: Small rim chip to one. Some glaze wear throughout.- Stone China plate: good condition.

(49.5 x 75.5cm.) * Condition: Small repaired split to centre left of canvas. Patch visible verso. Six small flakes to margins. Craquelure across surface of canvas. Examined under UV - has been restored. Retouching to craquelure throughout, some minor retouching and strengthening to detail. Repainting to top left corner. Overpainting to wall to left of road at left of picture, and behind mother & child on beach. In a fairly modern plain painted & gilt frame.

(49 x 63cm.) * Condition: 0.5cm. square patch of paint worn to very top left corner. Small dark stain spot to top right of sky. Otherwise in good condition. In a glazed white painted wood frame with dark blue slip.

(10.25cm.) high; a matched pair and two single poodles holding a basket of flowers in mouth, one Samson, approx. 3½in. (8.9cm.) high; two frit work poodles; four frit work dogs comprising a pair and two singles, the pair 3in. (7.6cm.) high; a miniature flat back of man seated on dog, 2¾in. (7cm.) high; and a later Continental frit work poodle with basket in mouth. (16) * Condition: - Game bird pair: Good condition - one with firing crack to top of back leg, and beneath upper part of pedestal.- Game bird singles: one lacks part of one wing on bird. The other with firing crack to underside of base. - Basket pair: Tiny chips to base on one and a small patch of brown discoloured crazing to glaze beside one front paw. - Basket singles: One with tiny firing cracks to base.- Frit work poodles: Both good.- Frit work spaniels: Pair have minor paint wear to muzzles. Small single has tiny base chip. Large single good.- German poodle: Good cdn.- Flatback: Small chip to base, paint flakes to green paint on shoulders.

(57 x 44cm.). * Condition: Examined under UV - extensive overpainting to top right corner, surrounding the tree branch. Large patch also top left and extensive small retouches and craquelure overpainting throughout lower half of canvas. Evidence of overcleaning throughout. The canvas has been laid down onto a board. In a modern frame.
Gerard Mercator (1512-1594), Islandia, (Iceland), 1595 or later, hand coloured engraved map, title cartouche, scale surmounted by dividers, sea monster upper left, 11 x 17in. (28 x 43.5cm.), Latin text verso. * Condition: Repaired tear to centre bottom in margin of map, approx. 2in visible to text verso. Slight browning to edges at joint with mount of map. Small patch of restoration with retouch to corner of map to lower right corner - verso this is visible as a white patch on the paper. Three other smaller similar white patches visible verso but they are beneath the mount on map side of frame. Map has a few minor fox marks but clean overall. Text verso has some time stain marks throughout.
