Follower of Alfred de Breanski (1852-1928) - The old mill at Brora Sutherland, oil on canvas, 49 x 78.5cm. Inscribed to stretcher. Eight small patch repairs verso, with small areas of overpaint to obverse. Paint good and stable, no crazing or breaking out. Would benefit from a light clean. Frame with minor losses to extremities.
A George III Bilston enamel patch box, the cover with sentimental quote 'May charms like thine, be still my lot, and love like mine be ne'er forgot', above a pink base and mirrored interior, 4cm wide (at fault) CONDITION REPORT: The top with many cracks throughout, with some chips and grazes, largest chip to the top left corner. The base with cracks inside and out, four chips of varying size - one of which is a slight dent which has pushed inwards just under the metal rim and caused a chip on the inside. The mirror to the inside with age wear tarnishing.

A Japanese earthenware Satsuma bun form pot and cover, early 20th century, painted with maple boughs in iron red, green and ochre, enriched with gilt, 3 5/8in. (9.2cm.) diameter., *Condition: Small patch of browned discolouration to earthenware body to inside of cover rim and minor browning to a patch of glaze to centre of underside of the cover. There is an iron red signature rectangle to the base but no signature. No other faults.
English School (first half 19th century), Portrait of a young girl, full length, with her dog, oil on canvas, laid onto board, 34 x 26in. (86.5 x 66cm.), *Condition: Canvas has been laid down onto hardboard. Multiple areas of retouching and repainting visible under UV, mst notably to skirt and bodice of dress, neck, above left shoulder and a large patch above dog. Other smaller retouches and strengthening elsewhere. Some is obvious to the naked eye. Extensive craquelure visible to surface around upper right and right margin.
17th / 18th century English School, Portrait of Christ in profile, inscribed with verse beneath, 'When by Christes pictuer thou at any tyme dost passe. the pictuer worshipe not but him for whom it pictured was. nor god nor man this image is: which thou dost present see. yt whom this blessed image showes. both god and man as he. for god is that which image showes. for yt my god it is. he hold this ferme but worship that, thy mind beholde me this', oil on oak panel, in modern burr wood frame with gilt slip, 12¼ x 9 1/8in. (31 x 23.2cm.), * This depiction of Christ in profile is taken from an image engraved on the Emerald Vernicle, once part of in the Vatican collection. The emerald, which no longer exists (it is believed to have disappeared with the sacking of Rome in 1527), appears in recorded history when Sultan Bajazid II gave it to Pope Innocent VIII in the 15th century., *Examined under UV. Extensive spotted retouching visible throughout. Minor strenghtening visible to front edge of hair, eye and beard. Small patch of dulled varnish centre lower margin. Has clearly been cleaned, restored and revarnished. Paint appears quite thin in places. Monogram painted verso.

(55.25 x 35cm.), * Provenance: With Studio Eighteen, Jersey, *Condition: Several red-brown spot marks to surface of card to right hand upper and lower corners and two others to upper part of figure. Small patch of light toning to paper to upper left corner, light mount burn to upper right and card lightly time stained overall. Damp damage to mount at lower right. Signature appears slightly faded.
English School (mid-19th century), Lake landscape with fishermen on a boat and country house distant, oil on canvas, in period gilt and composition frame, 15¼ x 20¼in. (38.75 x 51.5cm.), *Condition: Poor overall and requires cleaning and restoration. Large canvas patch verso repairing a large L shaped tear to centre sky. Another smaller canvas patched repair to a hole to the right of this tear. Other retouching visible in places under UV. Extensive craquelure. Some moderate bitmenisation to dark paint at lower right. Losses and overpainting to frame.
Anthony Levett-Prinsep (British, 1908-1983), Harbour scene at night, gouache and pencil on board, signed 'Prinsep' lower right, original gilt and painted frame, 16 x 20¼in. (40.5 x 51.5cm.), *Condition: Not examined out of frame. Significant craquelure and flaking to paint to grey/white reflections of buildings to centre of panel, blues to top right corner, a patch above the blue roofs at top centre and to centre left margin. Some craquelure also visible to yellow and light blue buildings towards upper right.
A Victorian silver punch bowl, Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co., London 1892, of bun urn form, with slightly flared upstanding rim and rope twist and foliate collars, the spreading pedestal foot with flowerhead border, 9½in. (24.2cm.) diameter, 7¼in. (18.5cm.) high, weight 36.8 tr.oz.; together with a modern silver punch ladle, S. J. Rose & Son, Birmingham 1975. (2), *Condition: Bowl - marks very slightly rubbed through polishing but remain clearly legible. A few small dings and one patch of tiny dings (which is probably a dent which was hammered out). The ladle is in good condition, but lacks the silver terminal to handle.
An antique Chinese silver and enamel circular patch box and cover, probably 19th century, worked in polychrome enamels and raised silver wires, the cover with two Buddhistic lions chasing a flaming pearl, the enamel is lapis blue, turquoise, dark red and yellow on an ivory ground, the sides of the full depth cover with dark green and midnight blue diaper work, the base with two character mark, 2in. (5.1cm.) diameter., *Condition: Crazing and small losses from edges to ivory ground on cover and the edge of the ivory ground is discoloured to amber/brown. A few small dents to edge of cover and seam to side of lid is split. Some losses from green 'leaves' on sides of cover, mainly to upper and lower edges. Mark to base clear.
A good 19th century French ormolu, porcelain and white marble drum clock, the white 5in. dial with black Roman numerals, fronting an eight day twin train movement, no. 22339, striking the hours/half hours on a bell, in a fluted drum case with foliate and floral swagged plinth with central Sevres style plaque with floral bouquet, the moulded serpentine white marble base with gadrooned toupie feet, 11 1/8in. (28.25cm.) high, on a serpentine giltwood and red velvet stand and later ebonised base with glass dome., *Condition:In fine, restored condition. Winds and runs, strikes correctly. Dial excellent. A few tiny nicks to lower edge of marble. Small patch of verdigris tarnish to centre bottom of back panel on clock. A few rubs to edges of giltwood stand. Velvet faded and has some wear. With later key.
A good set of four French portrait miniatures of Napoleon Bonaparte's Generals, 19th century, oval, finely painted in watercolour on ivory, the generals resplendent in full ceremonial uniform, each signed with the initials 'G.S.', 5.8 x 4.7cm., within white metal frames with foliate engraving and laurel wreath surmounts, the backs with inscribed moulded vulcanite plaques naming the general, 'General Mouton', 'General Solignac', 'General Rapp' and 'General Songis'. (4), *Condition:Colours strong and appear to be in very original condition. Each of the miniatures has some very fine pale spotting to the surface when viewed through a 10x lens - it is not visible when viewed by eye. We are not sure if this is on the surface of the miniature or on the underside of the glass - the miniatures have not been removed from the frames so we cannot confirm. General Solignac has a faint, small patch to the paint to the top centre above the hair which is possibly a contact mark with the paint or varnish when originally painted and still wet - it is barely visible except under close examination. One of the vulcanite backs has shrunk a little and there are some glue spots around the edge suggesting it has been secured with glue at some time. Frames very good - they have not been cleaned or polished.
A 19th century Calvert style ivory chess set, red stained and natural, well turned, the king 10.3cm. high, the pawns 4.3cm. high. (complete); together with a 19th century mahogany cased travelling chess set with red stained and natural ivory pieces, the board 9¼in. (23.5cm.) square; and a 19th century Chinese export chinoiserie lacquered folding chess / backgammon board. (3), *Condition:- Chess set: One white bishop with small chip to mitre. Old glue to threaded joint below one white knight's head. Red queen - worn patch to red stain to ball to top. Two chips to turning on red king. A few tiny frits to collars on pawns. Red pieces have a few rubs and tiny scratches to stained colour. One red knight has heavier wear to detail on head., - Travelling chess set: Very good. Complete. Some rubbing to polish around holes on board squares from placing of pieces during play. Dark spirit stain to wood to border of board in one corner. Exterior has some light scratches and scuffs to surface., - Chinese board: Fair condition - heavy wear to lacquer to exterior and chips/flakes to edges. Interior has some gilt wear and large crack across lacquer to one side. Lacks catch to keep closed.
Napoleon interest - a Chinese Canton carved ivory patch box, the domed cover depicting and inscribed 'Napoleon's Tomb', the sides carved with houses in a wooded landscape, the base with a flower, 1 3/8in. (3.5cm.) diameter.* Condition: Small crack to edge of cover and two small chips to top edge of carved section of cover. Small crack to edge of base.
