A late 18th century mounted seed pod flask, on a small foot initialled "OAS" with border engraving, a floral boss on each side and a bulbous, screw cap with a pull-out peg, both secured by chains, struck five times with a fleur de lys mark, unascribed, probably Scandinavian last quarter of the 18th century 5.5in (14cm) high.

A Maltese silver scent flask maker's mark AP, Perellos period 1697-1720 engraved with leafage, grotesque masks applied at the sides with suspension rings, cover revealing pierced stopper 9cm, 3Iin high 49gr, 1oz 10dwt A similar flask with same maker's mark is in the collection of the Museum of the Order of St John. Its loop finial is incised VIIII, whilst the example sold here bears the numerals IX, see Julia Findlater and Pamela Willis, Silver at St John's Gate, April 1990 no2. A further example by this maker is in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, see Victor F Denaro, The Goldsmiths of Malta and their Marks, 1972 p76.
