MORTIMER, MAKER TO HIS MAJESTY, LONDON', the 'K' in 'maker' bisecting the 'E' and 'R' in 'Mortimer, dove-tailed fore-sight, shallow standing notch rear-sights, engraved breech blocks with two engraved bands and a further engraved platinum band, vented platinum plug to the drums, fully engraved top-tangs, flat slightly curved locks with engraved bevel edges and dipped tails, signed below the original pan cut-outs 'T.J. MORTIMER, ST JAMES ST', acanthus scroll engraving and scroll engraved hammers, walnut half-stock with chequered bag-shaped grips, oval escutcheons to wrists, blued spurred trigger guards, plain triggers, turned thimbles and brass mounted mahogany ramrods, much finish remaining from the period of conversion and together with their original fitted mahogany case, Thomas Mortimer parchment label and lined and compartmented in dark green velvet, complete with a good three-way flask, loading rod, ball mould, oiler, Mortimer cap tin and later period nipple-key and turnscrew.

DOUGALL, GLASGOW' and engraved with a border at the muzzle, plain colour-hardened cylinder numbered from '1' to '5' and engraved with a band to the front edge, borderline and scroll engraved hinged frame and grip-strap, the left side engraved 'JAMES WEBLEY PATENTEE' in a banner, the backstrap serial numbered and engraved 'BY HER MAJESTY'S ROYAL LETTERS PATENT', chequered walnut grips, engraved pommel with eyelet for lanyard ring, borderline and scroll engraved trigger-guard and rammer, the rammer mounted on the right side of the frame pivoting on the barrel-hinge screw, Birmingham proof marks, strong amount of finish and colour remaining, in a partially relined and fitted English market oak case and with some accessories including a Bartram powder-flask, an original brass 'William Davis' single-cavity 48-bore bullet mould, a cleaning rod and nipple key, breech-brush and cap and grease tins, the lid with circular brass escutcheon, the inside of lid with Frederick Smith, Birmingham trade label.
A CASED .31 PERCUSSION COLT 1849 POCKET REVOLVER, serial no. 48691, for 1852, with 6in. octagonal barrel signed on the top-flat on two lines, open iron frame, roll engraved replacement cylinder (numbered 44884), silver plated brass grip-straps and trigger guard (much plate remaining) and smooth walnut flared grip, in a probable original US market casing for the same revolver, radiused edges to the lid, the interior lined and compartmented in blue velvet and complete with a period flask, cleaning rod, bullet mould and cap-tin, later nipple key and turnscrew, the inside of lid with parchment Colt instruction label, the outer escutcheon engraved 'Mr H ?, 1847', surname obscured.
A CASED PAIR OF 54-BORE PERCUSSION TURN-OFF BOXLOCK POCKET PISTOLS SIGNED LAKE, BRAINTREE, no visible serial numbers, circa 1845, with 1 5/8in. round blued turn-off barrels, squared boxlock central hammer actions with concealed automatic triggers and engraved with stands of flags, with oval panels on the left signed 'LAKE' and 'BRAINTREE' in similar panels to the right, slab-sided walnut butts and sliding safeties to the top-tangs, together with a mahogany brass cornered storage case lined and compartmented on green velvet (faded brown) and containing a powder flask, scissors mould, caps, balls and key for the lock, the outside of lid with escutcheon engraved 'BENDYSHE WALTON, HAVERHILL, 1847', the inside of lid with parchment trade label for Witton & Daw, London.
A MAGNIFICENT CASED PAIR OF 12mm PERCUSSION SILVER AND GILT DECORATED TARGET-PISTOLS SIGNED BLANCHARD, PARIS, no visible serial numbers, circa 1865, with 10 1/4in. octagonal barrels in the white with alternating broad and narrow blind flutes for much of their exposed length, the top-flat at breech signed in gilt script 'HOULLIER BLANCHARD BTE. A PARIS', bordered in silver wire with gilt arabesque terminal, the muzzle and breech flats bordered en-suite, the panels with silver stylised tulips, bar and bead fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights, the top-tangs with gilded top-nails and borders surrounding silver flowers, moulded and fenced snails, bar action hump-backed locks with dipped tails and inlaid with gilt wire borders filled with silver and gilt vine decoration, en-suite hammers, ebony half-stocks deeply chisel-carved with running vines against a stippled ground, moulded 'balon' style iron butt-caps inlaid with further silver and gilt vines and borders, en-suite spurred iron trigger guard bows and tangs, the guards with pierced mounts behind the plain triggers, barrel key escutcheons with gilt wire borders and no provision for ramrods, complete with their maker's original mahogany case lined and compartmented in the continental style in blue velvet, maker's details blocked in gilt to the inside of lid and containing a full complement of deluxe accessories including an ebony loading mallet, a scissors mould decorated en-suite to the pistols, a Boche of Paris powder flask with observation window, automatic action and white metal embossed panel to body, ebony cleaning and loading rods for each pistol, an ebony cap-pot, turn-screw and nipple-key, together with a nickel oil-bottle, the outside of case with fine brass stringing and inlet fretwork panels, the case in turn with its original leather protective outer.
AN EARLY CASED .36 PERCUSSION COLT 1851 NAVY REVOLVER, serial no. 4951, for 1851, with 7 1/2in. octagonal barrel signed 'ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY', bead fore-sight, open iron frame marked 'COLTS PATENT', plain roll engraved six-shot cylinder (safe stop-pins crushed), silver plated brass grip-straps and smooth walnut one-piece grip, traces of colour and finish throughout and all matching numbers, in its maker's U.S. market wood storage case with rounded edges, the interior lined and compartmented in green felt baize, parchment instruction label inside lid and retaining its original steel mould, cleaning rod and nipple key, together with a possibly original 'E. Pluribus Unum' flask for a pocket model.

P940, and marked for the London Armoury with Kerr's Patent 2135, circa 1855, with 5 1/2in. blued octagonal barrel, the left hand top-flat with London proofs and marked 'L.A.C.', conical pillar fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, plain five-shot cylinder, (matching number), two-piece frame marked on the right 'KERR'S PATENT', the left side stamped 'LONDON ARMOURY', single action mechanism (currently not indexing), borderline engraved back-action lock signed 'LONDON ARMOURY' mounted into the chequered walnut grip, iron butt-cap and under-barrel rammer, retaining strong amounts of original finish and colour, together with its original oak storage case compartmented and lined in green baize, Kerr's New Patent Revolving Pistol instruction label inside the lid and containing a later brass mould, a James Dixon powder flask (mainspring replaced), a cleaning rod, turnscrew and nipple-key, plus a cap bag, tin of shot and oil bottle, the last three probably original to the pistol.

COLT NEW YORK U.S.A.', stepped and fluted five-shot cylinder, open iron frame, brass grip-straps and trigger guard (traces of silver plating) and smooth walnut grip, the serial number markings with an 'L' prefix indicating London retail, wedge a probable replacement and together with a period English market oak case relined and compartmented for this pistol, with reproduction flask, cleaning rod, mould and nipple key, together with period cap tins and oil bottle, the inside of case lid with reproduction Colt instruction label.
A CASED 80-BORE PERCUSSION 1ST MODEL TRANTER'S PATENT DOUBLE-TRIGGER REVOLVER RETAILED BY W. RICHARDS, LIVERPOOL, serial no. 20447Y, circa 1855, with 5in. octagonal barrel, engraved band at muzzle, the top-strap signed 'W RICHARDS, 53 OLD HALL ST. LIVERPOOL', plain five-shot cylinder with engraved band to leading edge, solid frame with spigot mount for detachable rammer (included), inverted 'Y' shaped safe spring, chequered walnut grip and self-cocking twin trigger mechanism marked 'W. TRANTER'S PATENT 1041', in a period walnut case relined in antiquity in green baize and including a mould, loading rod, powder flask, Tranter retailed lubricating compound and cast bullets, caps and other sundries, the inside of lid with reproduction Wilkinson label.

PATRICK, no visible serial numbers, probably converted from flintlock, with 4in. browned octagonal barrels, the top-flats signed 'LIVERPOOL', bead fore-sights and moulded standing notch rear-sights to the engraved top-tangs, borderline and acanthus scroll engraved colour hardened locks signed 'PATRICK', dolphin headed hammers with bolted safes behind, walnut full-stocks with chequered bag-shaped grips, white metal furniture including lion mask pommel-caps, engraved trigger guard bows with pineapple finials and ramrod throats, captive iron swivel ramrods, much finish and colour remaining and in a fitted walnut case lined in red velvet (faded), original arched trade-label inside lid and including a three-way flask, squared oil bottle, loading rod, and scissors mould, all possibly original to the pistols, the case lid with flush fitting rectangular brass handle engraved with the initials 'T.G' and an armorial of a rampant winged griffon with a sword aloft above a wreath.

EDINBURGH AND LONDON', slim action with Jones patent rotary underlever, carved percussion fences, elongated top strap, rebounding back-action locks with bolted hammers, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed finish, 14 5/8in. figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, pistolgrip-cap, sling eyes and chequered steel buttplate, small plug at hand, slender fore-end with horn finial, weight 5lb. 13oz., in its brass-cornered leather case with some accessories, including a bullet mould engraved AH 2724 and a leather covered Hawkesley powder flask.
