A fine pair of powder-flasks dating: 19th Century provenance: China Curved, horn bodies, richly chiselled, at the base a triple frame of key-fret, the centre decorated with spirals, symbols, effigy of figures and animals, a bandeau with ideograms surmounting a circular element with another inscription in ideograms; the fuse chiselled with feathers, the mouth-pice finely carved as an in the round rooster head. The cover made of horn, held by a hinge placed at the fuse and consisting of the upper part of the rooster's head; it can be opened by pulling a small lever. A magnificent Scottish Victorian 15ct gold and citrine mounted Highlanders Regalia by James and Walter Marshall, Edinburgh 1865, comprising; A Dirk, with carved and stained Celtic knot wood grip, large thistle shaped multi-faceted Cairngorm pommel, single fullered plain steel 28cm (11") blade. The leather scabbard with matching knife and fork, both with Cairngorm thistle pommels. All pieces heavily strapped in hallmarked 15ct gold. Approximately 44.5cm (17 1/2" ) long. A Skean Dhu, with a shallow carved plain grip, a plain steel 10cm (4") single fullered blade, the pommel set with faceted Cairngorm, 15ct gold strapwork. Approximately 17cm (6 1/2" ) in length. A Belt Buckle, shield shaped, in 15ct gold. The central engraved quartered coat of arms within engraved borders. Total approximate weight 86.5gms. 9.7cm x 7.3cm ( 7/8" x 2 5/8"). A Powder Horn, of ornamental dress form, the flattened horn shape set with a central large oval multi-faceted Cairngorm in elaborate 15ct gold mount. The top set with a faceted lozenge Cairngorm set into an elaborate fretwork gold setting. The horn flask point set with a thistle-shaped Cairngorm stone in a heavy gold mount. The flask with two circular chain mounting points. No chain. Approximately 30cm (12" ) in length. James and Walter Marshall of Edinburgh were renowned craftsmen of fine quality Highland Regalia in the 19th Century.
