Finely engraved floral and foliate side locks dolphin hammers shell and acanthus engraved trigger guard half stock diced and plain steel buttcap. Contained in a mahogany case with recessed brass carrying handle the hinged lid enclosing relined interior various compartments and accessories including an Irish elongated leather powder flask with carrying strap and a copper and brass bag shape powder flask by C & J.W Hawksley. (This lot is purchased as an exempt item under section 58(2) firearms act 1968. To be held as a curiosity)
A cased pair of percussion duelling pistols by Mortimer, London, 23cm sighted octagonal browned barrels engraved London on the top flate, border and scroll engraved stepped and bolted locks signed Mortimer, converted from flintlock, gold lined breeches, platinum plugs, scroll engraved tangs, half stocked with engraved steel and white metal mounts, flattened oval butts, brass capped ebonised wood ramrods, one with worm, contained in their faded red velvet lined case, associated cleaning/ramrod, powder flask, bullet mould and cap tin, the lid with trade label for D. Egg, Gun Maker To His Majesty, No. 1 Pall Mall. The conversion on these guns was probably undertaken by D. Egg and refinished at that time. These guns were probably made by T.J. Mortimer, for a pocket pistol with almost identical butt configuration see plate 241 in The Mortimer Gunmakers 1753-1923, Munson

A 19TH CENTURY OAK BRASS-CORNERED PERCUSSION GUNCASE, with a Lacy & Reynolds trade label, fitted for a double barrelled gun with 30in. barrels, lined in green baize with close fitted compartments for shot-belt, powder-flask, turnscrews, card punch etc., retaining a rare cardboard carton for Eley Bros 'Elastic Cloth Gun Wadding' which was apparently '…guaranteed not to wear in the pocket or blow to pieces in the barrel'.
