A 19th century "Railway Companion", the flask stopper as a shot glass and housed in a leather bound cylindrical case. Height 15.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The combined glass and stopper is in extremely good order with no issues. The flask itself has one very small nibble to the outer edge of the top lip. The remainder of the flask is in good order. The outer leather case has numerous old scuffs and marks but no significant issues. The inner sleeve has a slight tear and a small amount of creasing but no losses.

The lugs of the slide safety bars are broken off The other pistol right action is not working, the left is working, holding at full and half cock. Both pistols retain much of their original blueing, with no other apparent damage. Nice sleepy condition

Victorian hallmarked silver hip flask, London 1887 maker John Aldwinckle & Thomas Slater, 11.5cm tall, with engraved SHS crest for Sydney Howard Smith, British tennis and badminton player born in Stroud, Gloucestershire (1872-1947). Sydney Smith was the first All England Badminton Men's Singles champion in 1900, in the same year he competed in the Gentlemen's Singles final at Wimbledon, losing to Reginald Doherty. Smith and his partner Frank Riseley won the Gentlemen's Doubles title at Wimbledon in 1902 and 1906 and he was a member of the British Davis Cup team in 1905 and 1906. Ranked as the World No. 2 player in 1899, Smith also won the Welsh Championships singles title 10 times (1896-1906) and the Northern Lawn Tennis Championships singles title 7 times (1899-1905).
