A PERCY TENANTRY POWDER FLASK OR HORN, polished horn body with brass mounts, the nozzle with sprung scoop measure, engraved F28, the base engraved with the Percy Tenantry Crest, two brass sling mounts, together with a Percy Tenantry powder flask, characteristic pear-shaped leather wrapped body with clear side panel inserts, sprung brass nozzle. The latter bears no crescent crest to the nozzle but a typical Percy Tenantry flask. (2)

C. 224 to 651 AD. Sassanian. Pair of glass flasks. The first, in a pale blueish green fabric, comprises a flaring rim with an inverted conical neck, a sloping shoulder and truncated conical body. The lower part of the shoulder is painstakingly decorated with ground circular facets characteristic of late Sassanian glassware; further geometric faceting is visible on the neck and on the lower part of the body. The second vessel, which is a deep marine blue colour, comprises an outward flaring rim, a constricted neck and a wide globular body. The body is draped in an elegant circular trail, which runs repeatedly around the flask. The Sassanian empire which ruled from Afghanistan to Iraq during the third to seventh centuries AD is famed for the high quality of its ceremonial glassware, which was used both during banqueting and during religious rituals. Excellent condition; beautiful patinas.Size: L:set of 2: 80mm(smallest), 100m(largest)mm / W:60mm(smallest), 95mm(largest)mm ; 290g. Provenance: From an old British collection formed in the 1980s.

Many of the artists featured are Sussex based and local to Hastings and Rye where Tony himself studied and exhibited.
