A stained ivory okimono of a hunter, wearing a gourd flask and holding a teppo whilst a young boy catches a rabbit beside him, 11.5cm high, Meiji Period, in its fitted Chinese wood box with label inscribed 'Contents/Ivory carving (old Japanese) man with child, rabbit, gun etc' (2)Provenance: The Property of a Gentleman. By direct family descent from his Great-Great Grandfather who is thought to have been born in 1843; he may have been in Japan as early as 1870.
