A REMARKABLE BRONZE TOAD FLASKTibet, late 19th century. Imaginatively cast as a large toad holding the flask nozzle in its mouth and with two handles on the sides for suspension, all raised on a flared foot. The creature's contours and lumpy skin are realistically rendered, and it feels quite similar to the real toad skin when you touch it. The form is unusual and only a few seem to be known in museums, these were probably used by pilgrims of a certain social status to carry water on their journey.Condition: Overall good condition with traces of age and wear and some nicks here and there. There is no personal engraving, and the approx. measurements are: chalice 8 cm tall, flask 11 cm tall and plate 6.5 cm diameter. Condition Report - Some wear and tear to the outer box, and some fading and wear to the velvet interior, some slight wear to the silver items, and the glass bottle has some discolouration, overall though a lovely Travelling Set.
