A MUGHAL-STYLE CORAL SET AGATE MINIATURE FLASKIndia, 19th century. Of compressed globular body rising into an elongated neck surmounted by a pointy stopper, carved with foliate designs, the shoulder inset with coral beads and gilt wire. Condition: With surface wear, few natural age cracks, notches to exposed areas and rims, as well as few old fills, otherwise good condition. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik Istvan Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. Istvan Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe. A SILVER AND JADE SNUFF BOTTLE, 1900sChina, late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) - Republic period (1912-1949). Of moon flask form, with a jade medallion on both sides centered with a silver ringed coral cabochon, the silver sides neatly inlaid with coral and turquoise rectangular cabochons, with a matching silver stopper and spoon. Condition: Good condition with minimal surface wear and some natural flaws to the jade, few inlaid stones missing. Minor nicks here and there. Provenance: Private collection, Belgium. A late Victorian silver hip flask, W & G Neal, London 1899, of curved rectangular form, detachable stirrup cup, bayonet clasp fastening, 15.3cm long, weight 8.34oztCR; Moderate denting to the body, cap and the cup, mostly concentrated to the corners and sides. Moderate scratching and wear throughout the body and the cup, commensurate with age and use. No splitting or repair to the body or the cup. Moderate wear to the gilt interior of the cup, particularly around the contact points. Cork is present to cap, but is heavily worn. Bayonet clasp is in working order, though is slightly stiff. Hallmarks show moderate wear, but are still legible.
