LONDON', all barrels also bearing Irish registration numbers 'WA428' or 'WA429' respectively, moulded colour-hardened breech-blocks with platinum vents, the tops inlet with a platinum line and the rib-endS engraved with a lioness mask, dove-tailed bead fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights to the fronts of the colour hardened fully engraved top-tangs, colour hardened border, scroll and gamescene engraved bar-action locks with sliding safes behind the dolphin-headed hammers, the bars signed 'C. LANCASTER, LONDON' between scrolled lines, walnut half-stocks with finely chequered swept butts, each fitted with an engraved and moulded off-set blued iron butt-cap, guarded plain triggers, rectangular white metal clipped corner escutcheons to the wrists and oval escutcheons to the blued barrel keys, engraved ramrod throats with plain thimbles and brass tipped ebony ramrods, both pistols in a good state of preservation with much original finish and colour intact and complete with their makers brass cornered mahogany case (lock escutcheon absent), replacement trade-label inside lid, the tray relined and compartmented in green baize and complete with a leather covered flask, mould, loading rod and sundry other accessories.

A RARE CASED AND ENGRAVED ADAMS 38-BORE PERCUSSION REVOLVER RETAILED BY REILLY, LONDON, serial no. 16503R, circa 1855, with blued octagonal 7 3/8in. barrel engraved with scrolls at breech, borderlined to the flats and a band at muzzle, the top-strap signed 'REILLY 502 NEW OXFORD STREET LONDON' within a border engraved panel with a further scroll engraved panel, solid borderline and scroll engraved blued frame, plain colour hardened cylinder with engraved band to leading edge and borderlines engraved to rear, double action mechanism, chequered walnut one-piece swept grip with engraved domed iron cap to the swollen pommel, guarded trigger and blued frame-mounted rammer, retaining much of its original finish and faded colour and together with its maker's oak storage case lined and compartmented in blue velvet, Reilly trade label inside lid and complete with a Reilly marked mould, a fine James Dixon bag-shaped flask, cap-tin, oil bottle, loading rod, turn-screw and nipple-key, all almost certainly original to the revolver.

A RARE CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION JOHN ADAMS 1866 PATTERN REVOLVER, serial no. 57, built to the Patent standard 1758 of July 12, 1861 and Patent 1959 of 1866, with blued octagonal 6in. barrel integral with the frame, dove-tailed fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to rear of standing breech, the top-strap signed 'ADAMS'S PATENT SMALL ARMS COMPANY, 391 STRAND, LONDON', hinged under-barrel rammer retaining the cylinder arbor, plain blued cylinder with 'water-wheel' nipple fences, action sides attached to the frame via screws, the right hand side engraved 'ADAMS'S PATENT IMPROVED No.57', double-action trigger mechanism, chequered walnut one-piece grip, iron butt-cap, the whole retaining a strong amount of original finish and complete with its oak storage case relined and compartmented in green baize and containing a brass R. Adam bullet mould, a mahogany cleaning rod, a reproduction bag-shaped flask, a nipple key and cap-tin.

LONDON, PATENT NO 1491', fitted with a colour hardened under-lever rammer of compound linkage design, open border and scroll engraved frame marked 'PATENT NO 1491', five shot London proved colour hardened cylinder (finish faded), double action mechanism, the hammer with shaped and moulded flash shield, chequered walnut grip with engraved and colour hardened back-strap and domed butt-cap, lanyard ring at heel, the revolver retaining the majority of its original finish and colour and complete in its original green baize lined and partitioned oak case, George Daw trade label inside lid, together with period mould, flask, loading rod and oil bottle.

A GOOD AND EXTREMELY RARE CASED 80-BORE PERCUSSION PRESENTATION NEEDHAM'S PATENT REVOLVER, no visible serial number, circa 1854 and conforming to Henry Needhams Patent 2184 of 20th September 1853, with blued octagonal 4 1/4in. barrel, each flat borderline engraved and with further engraved band at muzzle, the top-strap signed 'H. NEEDHAM, LONDON', dove-tailed blade and bead fore-sight, notch rear-sight to the back of the solid top-strap, colour hardened cylinder with engraved bands front and rear and a central broad band of scroll engraving, angled nipples, radiused border and scroll engraved colour-hardened slab-sided receiver with external hammer, gravity operated safety and quick-release mechanism for the barrel and cylinder, border engraved back-strap marked 'S. BIRDSEYE' in gothic lettering, almost certainly the original owner's name, semi saw-handled finely chequered walnut grip, engraved iron grip-cap with central trap-door for caps and no provision for rammer, much original colour and finish remaining throughout and together with its oak storage case lined and compartmented in green baize and complete with a flask, scissors mould, nipple-key, loading rod and cap-tin, lock escutcheon absent, the lid escutcheon initialled 'S.B.'. The revolver comes with a facsimile copy of the 1853 Needham patent No. 2184.

PURDEY 314 1/2 OXFORD STREET, LONDON', long bead fore-sight, rear-sight of a short folding ladder with shallow fixed notch and additional three folding leaves, colour hardened breech-blocks with scroll engraving to the rib-end and platinum line engraved vents, fully borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, colour hardened bar-action locks signed 'PURDEY' below the sliding safes, drum based dolphin headed hammers, birdseye maple half-stock chequered at the wrist and fore-end, iron furniture with chequered spur to the lower tang and brass mounted mahogany ramrod, the whole expertly refinished to an extremely high standard and in its maker's mahogany case, lined and compartmented in green baize and including two matching number moulds and a wad-punch, sizing die, powder-flask, powder tin, cap-tin and other sundry accessories, Purdey parchment label with inked charge details inside lid.
