A pair of cased percussion pistols dating: mid-19th Century provenance: France Octagonal, rifled, twisted, 15 mm cal. barrels, keeping 70% of the original blueing, with gold outline at the nozzle, provided with foresight, a gilt frame at the base (some parts missing); engraved tangs with sight notch; forward spring locks with outlined plate engraved with palmettes, hammers slightly chiselled with animal head. Half stocks of light wood, with checkered butts; iron mounts featuring remains of blueing, counter-plates engraved with racemes, the trigger guards with flowers, elliptical butt-plates relieved at the centre. An early Victorian silver flask and fitted cup, by John Tongue, the engraved feather plume patterning over a Scottish belted clan crest of boars head erased and Latin motto "Domat Omnia Virtus" (Virtue Overcomes All), Birmingham 1847 (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This lot is in generally very good condition. The lid is crisp and clean and screws on as it should. The upper part of the body is in generally good condition. There is a trace of an old solder repair across one shoulder down the seam, this is minor. The covered base is in good order. The detachable base cover is also in good condition with an old repair of approximately 1 inch at the base seam, again this is minor.

A silver hip flask, screw lid, 1830 William IV, 100 grams. Height 120 mm. CONDITION REPORT: The hip flask is in generally good condition with only very minor surface scratches and the odd tiny dint. There are no real issues. The hallmark is slightly rubbed but fully legible with the exception of the makers mark which is only half legible. It does not look as if the piece ever had a detachable cup. There is no engraving. The flask is watertight.

A FINE GERMAN ROOTWOOD POWDER-FLASK AND SHOULDER-STRAP WITH FIRE-GILT BRASS MOUNTS, CIRCA 1650 with large circular turned rootwood body formed in two halves, bound by a plain gilt-brass band with rectangular foot, the outer face fitted with a convex roundel engraved with the owner`s quartered arms and coronet, fitted with moulded nozzle closed by a pivoted spring-cap, the latter formed with a straight flat neck pierced with tiered opposing C-scrolls, and with a pair of rings for suspension: on a period shoulder-strap formed of three sections of red morocco leather, now much darkened, bordered with patterned gilt wire, the ends fitted with two pairs of gilt-brass tongues engraved with scrolling leaves on a pounced ground, the lower tongues with suspension rings, and with a pair of gilt-brass buckles and a single loop each cast with an indented moulded pattern Height 20.3 cm; 8 in The construction of the neck of the nozzle-cap matches that of the cocks of some flintlock firearms of the period.
