Dressed in gowns fastened around the waste and a robe over the shoulders. The round face emanates a peaceful bliss with squinted eyes, small urna on the forehead. An opulent crown with lotus petals decorates the head. The backside of the statue is kept simple, hollow from the bottom.

The face is smiling with a raised urna on the forehead, a tiara with floral spikes on the head, the elongated earlobes are adorned with large floral ear pendants. A metal noose on the back of the statue.

A LARGE CHINESE CIZHOU TYPE STONEWARE FLASK. A heavily-potted vessel in imitation of a leather water container used by nomads in the north of China. Coated in white slip under a transparent glaze with underglaze iron decoration to both sides. Height 36 cm (14 inches). Insignificant flaking of glaze to rim edge and “ridges” of body. Provenance: from a Sussex collection, purchased from a New York seller in the 1990s as Song Dynasty but possibly later.No restoration or repair but the surface stained reddish-brown in places from iron-rich burial soil.
