THREE STONEWARE BOTTLES OF TAUNTON INTEREST comprising a flat-sided flask impressed `Palmer / Wine & Spirit Merchant / Taunton`, with loop handle, 28.5cm; a bottle impressed `Palmer / Wine & Spirit Merchant / Taunton`, with rounded shoulders and loop handle, 32.5cm (flake from body); and a bottle printed `Scarlett & Son / Wine & Spirit Merchant / Taunton`, with rounded shoulders and loop handle, 31.5cm (flake from neck rim).
A Ryosai stoneware Moon Flask, c.1900, moulded and coloured with a boy on a dragon offering to an immortal, the reverse with Mount Fuji, impressed mark, 20.2cm The flask is of Sumida Gawa type, but there were several potters working in the same area. (See lots 52 and 53). CONDITION REPORT: No obvious faults.

An 18th century coconut flask, carved overall in oval wreath panels, with “GR” cypher and lion with palm trees, angels and figures in woodland, phoenix in wreath on trophy of flags (one flag bearing an anchor) all within borders of foliage, plain silver (not Hallmarked) nozzle and fine linked suspension chain and mounts, 6¼Â” overall. Good Condition (no stopper). Plate 5
A late 18th century French coconut flask, well carved overall, with a circular panel of 2 female figures in flowing robes, one (left) holding a shield engraved “Prince et Patrie” the other (right) topless and indicating a column engraved “Amour” , and an oval panel showing a Roman soldier drawing his sword with shield facing a galley in full sail, spray of leaves to the base, the top carved as a stylized monster head with 2 blue glass eyes, plain silver nozzle and stopper, suspension chain and mounts, 5½Â” overall. Good Condition with a polished patina. Plate 5

A scarce French copper powder flask “Panel-Lyre” (Riling 460), brass top with compartment for balls and swivel shell cover, 4 stage graduated nozzle 40-55 grains, body marked “Fabque de Nouchet”, 5” overall. Good Condition (old solder repair to top, a few minor dents not affecting the pattern). Plate 28
A 6 shot .36” Colt Model 1851 Navy percussion revolver, with London address, number 30814 (1855) on all parts, the wedge numbered, with only faint traces of cylinder scene, butt with lanyard ring. Good Working Order and Condition, the barrel retaining some original blued finish; in a green baize fitted mahogany case with instruction label, containing spare cylinder also numbered 30814 (worn and pitted), double cavity steel mould (patches of pitting), nipple key/screwdriver, an old cap tin, and a reproduction flask. A 5 shot 80 bore TranterÂ’s Patent 2nd Model self cocking double trigger percussion revolver, 9” overall, barrel 4½Â”, with London proofs, frame, rammer and butt cap finely engraved with scrolls, the frame also engraved “No 5578T”, finely chequered walnut butt. Good Working Order and Condition, retaining approximately 50% of original blued finish (small patches of pitting),in its original green baize lined fitted mahogany case with brass escutcheon in lid, containing double cavity bronze mould for 2 grooved bullets, small copper flask by Dixon (spring missing), loading/cleaning rod, an original tin with label for “TranterÂ’s Patent Lubricating Bullets”, containing lubricant and some bullets, and a later cap tin. Good Condition (minor external wear to case). Plate 38
A cased pair of 50 bore percussion boxlock side hammer pistols, 8” overall, octagonal barrels 3¼Â” engraved “-Smith, London-” and with swivel ramrods beneath, London proved, the frames, hammers and trigger guards finely engraved with flowers and scrolls, the finely chequered butts with German silver escutcheons and engraved butt caps.Good Working Order and generally quite Crisp Condition, the engraving sharp and retaining traces of original finish overall; in their crimson velvet lined fitted mahogany case with lid escutcheon, containing small plain copper flask by Sykes, 52 bore steel pincer mould, cleaning rod, and key to the case (minor damage to lid). A cased double barrelled 14 bore percussion sporting gun, 46¾Â” overall, Birmingham proved twist barrels 30” engraved “London” on top rib; locks engraved with scrolls and “Manton”, walnut stock with chequered fore-end and wrist and with scroll engraved steel mounts including elaborate pineapple trigger guard finial. Good Working Order and Condition (front ramrod pipe missing, barrels lightly pitted overall); also a good 36 bore percussion underhammer walking stick gun, browned twist barrel 32¼Â” with London proofs, action engraved “Edwd. London Gun & Rifle Maker, 51 London Wall, London”, walnut handle with thread for attachment of shoulder stock, the hole filled by an engraved screw when not in use, together with its nicely figured and polished stock with engraved steel mounts and an interchangeable 7” browned twist barrel; all contained in a green baize lined fitted mahogany case, the lid with a large brass escutcheon engraved with a crest, containing a 30 bore pincer mould, plain bag shaped copper flask, nipple key with pricker, turnscrew, good quality shot flask with German silver charger, mainspring clamp, barrel key/ nipple key for the walking stick gun, Kynoch cap tin, cloth wad bag, etc. The whole in Good Clean Condition Plate 41
A cased 5 shot .31” Colt Model 1849 Pocket percussion revolver, barrel 4” with New York City 2 line address, number 106984 (1855) on all parts (the barrel wedge un-numbered), with clear stage coach scene on cylinder, silver plated trigger guard and backstrap, and plain varnished grips. Good Working Order and Condition, with faint traces of original blueing to barrel; in its maroon velvet lined mahogany case, containing brass bullet and ball mould (battered), American eagle embossed brass flask (some dents), a tin for U.M.C central fire percussion caps, and the key to the case.
