Minor dinks to both items, but overall ok for age. Some tarnishing.

Provenance: By descent from Douglas Shepherd (1922-1989), a designer and architect working on public houses for the brewery firm Ind Coope. He was heavily influenced by and was a serious collector of Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau, including leading designers and artists such as Charles Ashlee and Jessie M King. He assembled a large collection from the 1950s to 1970s. His book collection was subsequently sold through Sotherby’s and in 2013 his magnificent silver collection by Archibald Knox and others was sold through these rooms.Please note there is no silver footed Art Nouveau dish in this lot

AN ANTIQUE 16 BORE FLINTLOCK PISTOL FITTED WITH A 7¾” BRASS BARREL AND WALNUT STOCK, the early lock is indistinguishably marked and secured to the stock with a fretted side plate with two bolts, its brass trigger guard bears an acorn motif and its spurred butt cap bears a coat of arms on its base, its wrist has been broken through at some point in the past and was neatly repaired with a brass plate, its lock is in working condition however the swan neck cock bears a welded repair, the barrel bears commercial proof marks indicating it was proved at the Tower of London, its collective features and related proof marks date its production sometime during the last quarter of the 1700’s, it comes with an inert .50” Browning cartridge, an unnamed copper powder flask bearing a hanging game motif and lacks a cut off spring, a flintlock pistol made up from antique gun parts which has a damascus 16 bore 7 ¾” barrel, a lock marked Lowe fitted with a waterproof pan and a .22” rifle cleaning kit (5)
