A RARE 20-BORE PERCUSSION HARPOON GUN, no visible maker's mark or serial number, with 20in. Birmingham black powder proof barrel with bolstered breech and bead foresight, round action with brass trigger-guard, retaining traces of original finish, 13 1/4in. figured stock including 3/4in. rubber recoil pad, in its canvas case with two brass barrel keys, Sykes patent powder flask, assorted percussion caps (one tin with spare nipples), a cloth bag of 'Eleys' Best Felt Wadding', nipple wrench and 3 harpoons; one solid brass tip, one with arrow-head tip and two fold-out barbs the third with sprung folding spear point. Footnote: The vendor informs us that the gun was originally purchased by the family from Hardy Bros. in Alnwick. The vendor informs us that his only experience of seeing the gun in action was in his youth, on a small yacht. As it resulted in the firer being thrown overboard by the unexpected recoil, it has remained unused ever since.
A 14-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN SIGNED I. DUGARD, circa 1855, with 29in. twist sighted barrels, scroll engraved breeches inlaid with two platinum lines, scroll engraved tang and signed locks, the latter each retaining feint traces of case-hardened finish and decorated with two pheasants on one side and two partridges on the other, walnut half-stock with chequered grip (cracked below left. lock), engraved iron mounts, and later brass-mounted ramrod (barrels discoloured), Birmingham proof marks, in lined and fitted brass-cornered mahogany case with some accessories including Dixon powder-flask.

EVANS, 230 SOUTH STREET, PHILADELPHIA, serial no. 372, third quarter of the 19th century, with 30in. laminated steel browned twist sighted barrels signed in full on the rib, scroll engraved case-hardened patent breeches each with pierced platinum plug, finely scroll engraved tang with an oval decorated with a dog's head, signed scroll engraved locks each retaining faded case-hardened finish and decorated with a differing scene involving a dog, finely engraved hammers, highly figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, finely scroll engraved iron mounts including blued trigger-guard decorated with a further dog, and gold shield-shaped escutcheon (ramrod missing), Birmingham proof marks, in original brass-cornered lined and fitted oak case with some accessories including powder-flask with George W. Ingram Patent charger and Hawksley shot-flask.
A CASED 14-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN SIGNED HALE, mid-19th century, with 29 3/4in. rebrowned twist sighted barrels, breeches engraved with a partridge, scroll engraved tang and signed locks, the latter each decorated with a differing scene involving a dog flushing a snipe and a brace of partridges, figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, engraved iron mounts including trigger-plate with pineapple finial, and brass-mounted ramrod (some discolouration to iron parts), Birmingham proof marks, in lined and fitted brass-cornered mahogany case with some accessories including leather-covered Dixon powder-flask with nickel 'Quickloading Fireproof' charger, the lid with later Cogswell & Harrison trade label.
A CASED .36 COLT 'MODEL 1851' SIX-SHOT SINGLE-ACTION PERCUSSION NAVY REVOLVER, serial no. 40049 for 1855, 13 1/4in. overall, with blued sighted barrel marked 'ADDRESS COL. COLT LONDON', cylinder with naval engagement scene and traces of blued finish, case-hardened action, walnut grips, matching numbers throughout with the exception of the wedge, and much original finish (some corrosion from storage in the case), London proof marks, in fitted mahogany case lined in red velvet with some accessories including patent bullet mould and Dixon powder-flask.
