A NOEL COWARD HIP FLASK, modelled as a gilt metal book, red Morocco bound, the spine gilt script "Bitter Sweet" and "Noel Coward", embossed in script to the cover "With best wishes Noel Coward", the corner cap twists off, made by James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield - these were commissioned by Noel Coward for the cast (approximately fourteen) of the Operetta "Bitter Sweet" which ran at the West End from 1929-1931

Provenance: The owner of this collection excavated Hailes Abbey in Winchcombe over many seasons, and during his years with English Heritage, was largely responsible for developing the collection of historic artillery now on display at Pendennis Castle in Cornwall.
A 19th Century Ketland & Adams Box-Lock All-Brass Flintlock Pocket Pistol, in an attractive associated rosewood box with accessories including a miniature copper powder flask, barrel length approx 6 cms. WEMBLEY EXHIBITION 1924; a quantity of ceramics including crested ware, a pair of heart shaped Wedgwood pin dishes, hair pin box, also a glass B.E.E. flask in original box, etc. CONDITION REPORT: Some crazing, surface wear, discolouration and firing faults to lions with some nibbling to bases. Largest height 10cm, two smaller 6cm, bowls have crazing and surface wear, purple example has pitting and losses to interior with chips to exterior. Further pieces have wear commensurate with age. The lot could be posted in medium box at a cost of £21.60 including VAT to the UK.
A late 18th century clear glass flask with wheel engraved owners initials 'TH' and floral decoration, length approx 19cm, a later grape and vine engraved rummer/goblet and two lens cut custard cups (4). CONDITION REPORT: Flask lacks stopper and has modern cork otherwise surface wear commensurate with age, the goblet/rummer has a small chip to the rim interior and the custard cups are ok, general surface wear throughout.
