A GOOD LARGE CHINESE QIANLONG/JIAQING PERIOD DRAGON & PHOENIX CLOISONNE MOON FLASK, decorated to one side with a sinuous five-clawed dragon amidst large heads of peony, the reverse side with a phoenix reserved on a similar ground, the neck fitted with two finely cast gilt bronze dragon handles, the foot with key-fret, the rims, neck interior and base gilded, 18in wide at widest point & 26.7in high.c.f. B&G Danish porcelain ovoid shaped vase with white poppy decoration. A Japanese silver lady's vanity set, probably Taisho/Showa period, comprising:- a circular compact engraved with foliate scrolls around a small vacant reserve, together with a scent flask engraved with leafage to front, the plain back with vacant lozenge reserve, also a small scent funnel, all in fitted case retailed by Tenshodo, Ginza, Tokyo, in grey leather box. Compact 8.2 cm. diameter.Silver virtually as new, small area of loss to grey leather on cover of box.
4th-5th century AD. A mould-blown flask of a human head with youthful features and curly hair; stem emerging vertically from the crown of the head, hole to the rear whore the handle was attached. Cf. Whitehouse, D. Roman Glass in the Corning Museum of Glass, vol.2 New York, 2001 item 548. 20 grams, 73mm (3"). Acquired on the London art market prior to 1980. Fine condition, stem and handle absent.
12th-10th century BC. A terracotta globular flask with trumpet-shaped neck with median carination, strap handle to the shoulder, concentric red and black painted bands to each broad face, hatching to the handle and rim. Cf. Amiran, R. Ancient Pottery of the Holy Land, Jerusalem, 1963 plate 91 item 1. 1.4 kg, 27cm (10 1/2"). From a German collection; acquired on the German art market before 1990. [No Reserve] Fine condition.

A mixed ceramic group comprising: a flask with trumpet mouth and strap handle to the shoulder; a flask with D-shaped strap handle to the top, broad mouth with chamfered rim. 459 grams total, 12-14cm (4 3/4 - 5 1/2"). Property of a California collector; acquired 1970s-1990s. [2] Fair condition.

A mixed group of glass vessels comprising: a very tall flask with bulbous body and dimple to the underside, tapering stem, flared mouth with rolled rim, iridescent surface; a shorter similar vessel with flat base; a similar iridescent vessel with flared rim, rounded base. 109 grams total, 11-20.5cm (2 1/4 - 8"). Property of a European gentleman living in London; previously from a German collection formed in the early 1980s. [3] Fine condition.
