The Historic Three Vehicle Flags from Field Marshall B.L. Montgomery's staff car, Second World War period and handed to his driver William Hallam by F.M. Montgomery in 1946 as a memento of their many years together during the conflict. Two of twin pronged pennant form, the third of rectangular form, each with applied emblems. Together with the following archive: (1) Soldiers release book of W. Hallam for 13.3.46 with testimonial written and signed by F.M. Montgomery on 2.3.46. (2) Travel identity card for W. Hallam for 16.7.46 with typical stampings and complete with photograph. (3) Soldiers service and army book of W. Hallam with typical entries for 1940-1946 together with a period photograph of W. Hallam leaning against the historic staff car with vehicle flags. (4) War Department driving permit for W. Hallam issued from 1.6.45 - 31.5.46. (5) Br. A.S.C. Regimental Association membership card of W. Hallam from joining date of 1.1.42 and his sleeve flask from wartime uniform. (6) W. Hallam's personal photograph album of the 1939-1945 war and its immediate aftermath. This with many views of the famous staff car in use with "Bill" in attendance. (7) A quantity of loose period photographs from this album, again with many views of "Monty's car". (8) An extensive letter of provenance from the current vendor by direct family descent .
An silver Holy Water flask probably Italian, circa 1640, engraved with armorials and St Veronica; wax jack, marks indistinct, probably Spanish, circa 1800; bowl, 900 standard, circa 1900, chased with roses, 32cm., 12.5in. long; paper weight, circa 1880, modelled as man tugging on donkey lead; bowl, Continental, 20th century, of Greek type, chased with animals; and ten liqueor cups, Continental, 20th century
A Chinese (?) copper and shagreen flask, second half 19th century, length 7.5in. 19cm. And a Chinese polished metal mirror, inset into embroidered silk surround, the reverse brocaded with gilt metal, and with applied silk and gold thread tassels. Second half 19th century, 4in. x 3in. 10cm. x 7.5cm.
Egyptian; an alabaster alabastron, vertically banded of well hollowed form with rudimentary lug handles, old cracks with weathered surface, rim lacking, Late Dynastic 664-342 B.C., 6 3/4in high, old wrought iron stand; a Roman two handled circular terracotta flask with foliate decoration, 4 3/4in high; and a moulded redware lamp, the base incised with a star, 4 1/4in overall, 3rd-4th century A.D. A silver mounted burr wood, probably walnut, flask, of oval form with flattened sides, the leaf shaped or scalloped silver mounts with rudimentary engraving, the underside with the initials MHD, 8. 5cm h, Dutch or North German early 18th c . Several of the mounts lost, the stopper an old replacement, unmarked, the mounts reminiscent of English late 17th/early 18th c work.
An English Pottery Relief Moulded Drinking Flask, dated July 26th 1847, of flattened form, with a front and reverse high relief portrait of a toper with sideburns, wearing a broad rimmed black hat and smoking a pipe while drinking, within acanthus leaf frames edged in gilt, with pierced shoulder scrolls (for suspension), with short nozzle, the base incised "Mr H Jones His Bottle July 26th 1847", {20cm high}

A Berlin Porcelain Rococo Style Scent Bottle and Stopper, with brass C scroll corked stopper over a body of scroll outline, painted to the front with a putto reclining on clouds in iron red en camaieu, the reverse with a flower spray, the borders picked out in gilt, sceptre mark in underglaze blue, printed orb mark in orange and KPM, circa 1870, {12.5cm high}; A "Dresden" Porcelain Scent Bottle, the cylindrical body painted to the front and reverse with courting couples in sylvan glades against blue scale backgrounds, scroll enhanced borders, gilt metal conical hinged cover with internal stopper, crown and "Dresden" in underglaze blue, circa 1900, {9cm high}; and A Continental Enamel Scent Flask, of shouldered flat sided form, painted with townscape and figures in boats to one side, a spray of flowers to the other within border panels of soft colours, gilt metal tassel and chain stopper, {6.4cm high} (3)
