7 BOTTLES OF WHISKY AND 2 BOTTLES OF BEER FROM THE WRECK OF THE SS WALLACHIA BLENDED WHISKY 7 BOTTLES OF WHISKY AND 2 BOTTLES OF BEER FROM THE WRECK OF THE SS WALLACHIAThis extraordinary collection was salvaged from the wreck of the SS Wallachia, which sank nearly one hundred and thirty years ago in the Firth of Clyde. Comprising seven bottles of whisky, two bottles of beer (believed to be McEwan's Export) and three pieces of the wooden crates they were transported in, this represents a unique opportunity for someone to acquire a fascinating slice of whisky history.WILKINSON'S DECANTER - Along side the standard sized, and half bottle of Charles Wilkinson whisky included in the lot, this glass decanter is perhaps the rarest piece in the collection. One of only two such decanters recovered on the dive, it was originally sealled with a cork stopper. This was replaced with the glass stopper recovered from a subsequent dive. Due to the stopper being filled with air it was found floating up against the roof of the cargo hold.ROBERT BROWN FOUR CROWN - One full sized bottle and two half bottles. These have been re-sealled with new corks, as the originals were too deteriorated. The original capsules are still present, and indicate that these bottles are Robert Brown's Four Crown blend, a favourite of King Edward VII.Also included is a Robert Brown Four Crown hip-flask and water jug. However, these are not items that were recovered from the wreck.DUMPY BOTTLE - While the original capsule and labels are no longer present, this bottle matches others recovered that were embossed with the name of Dufftown distillery on their base.Qty: 9WILKINSON'S DECANTER - The glass stopper has been secured with transparent silicon sealant to minimise evaporation.DUMPY BOTTLE (MACKIE'S) - The fill level has dropped below the shoulder of the bottle, which shows signs of leakage. We estimate that it contains approximately three quarters of its original volume. The original corks sealling the whisky bottles have been removed and replaced to minimise deterioration of the liquid.
