TRE RAFFIGURAZIONI DI GUANYIN Cina, dinastia Qing, XIX secolo - THREE FIGURES OF GUANYIN China, Qing dynasty, 19th century Legno intagliato, laccato dipinto e dorato. Altezza 49, 30 e 33 cm - Carved wood, painted and gilded. Three of the countless variants in which Guanyin, the goddess of mercy, appears in the classic Buddhist iconography: one of the figures is seated in vajrasana and with three fingers of one hand is holding a small flask that should be full of pure water. Perhaps she was holding a willow branch in her right hand, which is missing. Her hair is styled intricately and she is wearing a tiara with Amitabha Buddha in the centre. The second is more stylised, part of a shrine, sitting on the lotus throne and with an infant in her arms. The third representation is standing on a lotus flower base and wears a crown and necklace. All three have a serene expression. Seasoning cracks, signs of woodworm (except for the standing figure), breaks, and missing pieces. The decoration of the figure inserted in the case is has almost disappeared. Height 19.29, 11.81 and 13 in. € 600
