An early 19th century cased set of three percussion cap pistols, makers Sargant Brothers, comprising; a double barrel side hammer pistol with rounded hammers, foliate engraved tops and trigger within a blued engraved finger quard, having a chequered white metal mounted walnut butts, good working order and good condition. Together with an accompanying pair of muffle pistols having foliate engraved side plates chequered rounded butts and retracting triggers, the oak green baize rectangular case fitted with a Sykes copper powder flask, bullet mould, bullets, ebonby mounted cleaning rod, nipple key, metal boxed copper firing caps by W.E. of London, the inside of lid bearing yellow printed label for Deane, Adams & Deane Gun Makers to H.R.H. Prince Albert, 30 King William Street, London Bridge.
A plated oval flask the glass body with silver plated cover with the initials SB together with a sterling silver powder compact with engine turned decoration to the front and engraved initials J.D. There is noticeable wear to the flask, scratches marks, trapped dirt and spots of tarnishing, to the upper half of the piece there is considerable wear to the silver plate. Noticeable discolouration to the inside of the silver plated mount is also visible through the glass inside. The compact is marked Berks Sterling it also carries scratches marks, general bumps and dints with patches of tarnishing. The hinge and clasp are in good working order.
