dating: third quarter of the 19th Century provenance: USA Octagonal, rifled, 5", 31 cal. barrel with brass, cusp-foresight and marked "ADDRESS SAM.L COLT / NEW-YORK CITY". Lever cartridge rammer at the bottom. Smooth, five-shot cylinder engraved with a well-visible diligence scene.The frame marked "COLTS PATENT". Brass butt and trigger guard in one piece with remains of the antique silvering. Smooth, wooden grip. Serial number "72xxx" coeval on all its parts. Remains of the antique darkening. Kept in one wooden stock with other accessories, among them a small flask and a brass bullet mold.This revolver has been portrayed by the artist Sergio Tisselli in "Lampi Sul West", plate n. 1. dimensions: length 25 cm.
A 19th century mahogany cased percussion revolver and accessories, possibly by Bentley, the box 29cm wide. Condition Report: The revolver is proof marked Birmingham. The 'blueing' is worn. Workings all there but somewhat stiff. Engravings on butt. No definite makers name. The fitted box contains items (incomplete) that may not be original eg powder flask and cleaning rod. The shot mold is in good order - bore 80. Small tin of caps x 6. Box in reasonable order, crack to top. Key present.
