Two creamware tea canisters, late 18th century, of rectangular form, one moulded with Cupid and with a Classical maiden sacrificing a rabbit, the other painted with simple flower sprays, and a pearlware spirit flask moulded with four putti emblematic of the four Seasons, some faults, 14.5cm max. (3)
Two treacle-glazed Toby jugs and a spirit flask, 19th century, one modelled as a snuff taker, the other of traditional form, seated with a jug of ale and a pipe, the spirit flask modelled as a character sitting astride a barrel, a restuck section to one hat, 24cm max. (3) Provenance: the collection of Robert Willcox, and thence by descent.
A 5 shot 54 bore 1851 Adams self cocking percussion revolver with “Improved Frame” and Robert Adams 1854 safety bolt and arbor latch, 12” overall, barrel 6” with London proofs, and engraved “Deane, Adams & Deane, 30 King William St, London Bridge”; frame engraved with scrolls and “Adams Patent”, and both frame and cylinder engraved “No 15763 R”; chequered walnut butt having engraved steel cap with hinged trap; no provision for rammer. Good Working Order and Condition, retaining approximately 60% of original finish (minor patches of rust staining); in its original green baize lined fitted oak case the brass lid escutcheon engraved “C.C. Lovell Lovell”, the inside of the lid with trade label of Deane Adams & Deane, containing double cavity 54 bore bronze mould with R Adams registration mark, Dixon copper flask (spring replaced), nipple key with pricker, brass mounted ebony loading/cleaning rod, pewter oil bottle, wad punch, and modern cap tin. Round standing flask w. incised galloping deer and grazing sheep.Deeply incised in her famous "sketchbook" style, this Hannah Barlow creation features a unique shape; raised sprigged beads, and the cobalt and umbre glaze of early Lambethware.
