A Victorian novelty spirit flask in the form of a telescope. The silver screw cap with attached security chain above a leather wrapped tapering lower section with two clear windows revealing the interior glass liner above a detachable silver cup engraved T.S. Hollebone from CBH 1895 - 1896. The cup detaching to reveal the lower section of the flask with star cut base. Birmingham 1875. Maker John Linegar. 10¼ins. Est £40-60
AN ENGLISH SILVER MOUNTED BLACKJACK OR 'LEATHERN MUG', C1700 applied with an escutcheon engraved with a crest, the rim with scalloped leaf engraved border 14cm h, unascribed probably provincial, maker's mark BI (gothic) a crown above only struck in a triard on the rim and once inside Comparative Literature: Baker (O) Black Jacks and Leather Bottells, Stratford on Avon, 1921, several similar examples illustrated. Always know as 'Jacks' or Black Jacks, mug-shaped Black Jacks were often recorded in inventories taken in the 16th and 17th centuries by the alternative name gispen, or simply 'leathern mug', as distinct from large, lipped or pouring vessels, such as the bombard or several forms of flask. ++An undoubtedly genuine example, complete and for these in excellent unrestored condition A very good example
dating: third quarter of the 19th Century provenance: England Rifled, faceted, 11.5 cm cal. barrel, provided with foresight and double outline at the nozzle; stamps of the Birmingham test bench at the bottom. Smooth, six-shot cylinder with numbered nipples and stamps of test bench. Frame with outlines and marked "PATENT No. 47xx" on the left side.Checkered, wooden grip. Functioning mechanic. Keeping the 70% of its antique finishing. Kept in a wooden case (a small defect at the cover, one missing screw). Blue, cloth lining. Provided with a Dixon & Son's flask, a brass bullet mould, screwdriver and nipple-wrench, ramrod and a box at the inside. dimensions: length 29,4 cm.
dating: 19th Century provenance: Germany Circular shape, entirely made of iron; the central portion of the body decorated with a high-relieved, sculpted oval depicting a hunting scene with two hounds, a hunter and a deer; at the opposite side of the flask, another oval featuring a similar, high-relieved scene with hunter, hounds and wild boar; the border chiselled with wild beasts and snakes. Cylindrical, grooved fuse, with a beaded frame. dimensions: height 14,5 cm.
dating: mid-19th Century provenance: Naples Smooth, octagonal, 17 mm cal. barrel with remains of finishing, provided with brass foresight; breech with a gold-inlaid, shield-shaped stamp, depicting sun with anthropomorphic face and the signature "MAZZA NAPOLI", provided with spark arrester; tang with broad sight; forward spring lock, featuring remains of finishing, engraved with racemes and signed "MAZZA"; wooden half stock with grooved butt; iron mounts engraved with racemes. The stock and the metallic components feature slight defects, the weapon deserves an adequate restoration. Together with an English, small powder-flask in a later case. dimensions: length 33 cm.

A large 19th century Chinese blue and white moon flask, decorated with figures with parasols, weapons, fans, etc. Height 45 cm, diameter 28 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The vase is in generally very good condition. There is no evidence of any repairs or restoration. We can see no cracks. One of the dragon handles has a surface glaze chip to the second point on its back. This is minor. There are no cracks to the body of the vase. There are some firing marks to the base but nothing of significance.
An antique carved coconut bugbear flask, probably mid-19th century, carved with various birds within roundels, one being attacked by a snake, within foliate and geometrically carved borders, the top with a pair of carved 'eyes' and a circular spout mounting (spout missing), 5in. (12.5cm.) diameter. * Condition: In good condition, with a good patina. Lacks spout. No cracks or chips - no damage noted.
An 1830s Lord Brougham reform flask, glazed in two tone colours, the top half of the flask bearing the likeness of Lord Brougham holding a scroll with the wording 'The True Spirit of Reform', the lower part of the flask is incised with the words 'Brougham Reform Cordial', Doulton & Watts pottery mark to rear, 7in. (17.7cm.) high. * Condition: A few small base chips, two rear manufacturing firing marks.
A very rare 19th century American novelty silver drinking flask, by Gorham, marked 'Sterling B 7463', dating it to c.1869, the unusual ½ pint hidden drinking flask disguised as a curved cigar case, opened by twisting one of the corners to reveal pouring spout & cork stopper, cartouche initialled B.F.A, 5¾in. (14.6cm.) high, weight 7.3 tr.oz. * Condition: Multiple small dings and flea bite nibbles throughout. Good condition overall.
A Middle Eastern Kohl or scent flask, early 20th century, in the form of a miniature ewer, the drum shaped body with mirrored, bevelled glass sides, with brass mounts and crown form stopper, 2½in. (6.4cm.) high, with carved hardwood aplicator. (2) * Condition: Stopper is detached from chain and the original applicator which was attached to the stopper is missing. Some deterioration to silvering to edges of glass. Original gilt finish very worn (visible beneath foot).
