Circa 1855. 3N" octagonal barrel (shortened) with top strap engraved ‘DEANE ADAMS & DEANE (MAKERS TO HRH PRICE ALBERT) 30. KING WILLIAM ST’. London proved. Five-shot cylinder Adams patent rammer spring safety catch chequered butt with engraved trap in green baize lined fitted oak case with trade label and patent topped adjustable copper powder flask by James Dixon 54-bore double cavity bronze bullet mould marked ‘R. ADAMS REGISTERED 28TH NOV. 1851’ pewter oil bottle ebony and rosewood cleaning rod with jag and integral worm wood handled nipple key with integral pricker wad punch and leather pouch with bullets and wads. Retains virtually all its original bright blue finish cylinder with traces of its original colour case-hardening. During its working life the barrel has been professionally shortened and the front sight reset.

Circa 1850. 3" barrels with foliate engraving at breeches foliate scroll and border engraved frame with bar hammer and sliding safety action profusely scroll engraved and marked ‘WM. & JNO. RIGBY’ to left side and ‘DUBLIN’ to right side in gothic script chequered rounded walnut grip with vacant silver oval to heel of grip in its green baize lined fitted mahogany case with maker s label and escutcheon to lid containing Sykes copper three way flask mallet incorporating ramrod with integral worm and spare cleaning jag nipple key a 90-bore steel pincer bullet mould brass six-cavity charger and a quantity of balls and patches. Steelwork detail sharp now to a grey patina.

Top strap engraved ‘Trulock & Harris Dawson St Dublin’ foliate engraved frame and rammer both stamped ‘W. Tranter s Patent’ fitted with swivelling safety catch which locks the cylinder one piece chequered walnut grip on its blue baize lined fitted mahogany case with double cavity brass bullet mould to cast both conical and spherical ball common topped copper powder flask and turn screw. Cleaned over all traces of patina remain.

Simpson’ containing double cavity bronze bullet mould patent topped adjustable copper powder flask by Bartram ebony handled turn screw and nipple key pewter oil bottle by Dixon boxwood nipple box containing 5. spares ebony cleaning rod with integral worm cap tin and a quantity of bullets. Engraved ‘Wilkinson London’ with swivel ramrod foliate engraved frame bolted hammers sprung belt hook finely chequered walnut butt butt-cap with cap box silver escutcheon engraved with owner s crest in its green baize lined and partitioned mahogany case with Wilkinson trade label containing Sykes common topped three-way flask blued steel 40-bore pincer bullet mould by William Davis rosewood handled rammer with worm and separate jag and turn screw two lidded compartments hold chamois leather pouches one containing bullets the other percussion caps. Barrels re-finished.

A Scarce Cased Five-shot 54-bore Daw s Open Wedge-framed Double Action Percussion Revolver. Number 1754. 6I" round sighted barrel engraved ‘George H. Daw 57. Threadneedle St. London Patent No 1754’. London proved. Frame and cylinder also numbered ‘1754’ one piece chequered walnut grip under-rammer cylinder trigger and back strap retain traces of original colour case-hardening in restored blue velvet lined partitioned oak case with trade label ‘George H. Daw’ to inside of lid a common topped copper powder flask an ebony handled brass cleaning rod / worm and vacant partition for a second revolver. Retains virtually all its original blue finish to barrel and frame.

A Cased 54-bore Very Early Beaumont Adams Revolver with no ‘B’ Number. 6" octagonal sighted barrel. London proved. Top flat engraved ‘DEANE ADAMS & DEANE 30. KING WILLIAM ST. LONDON’ frame engraved ‘ADAMS PATENT No. 14219.R.’ sliding cylinder lock safety catch fitted with Rigby s patent rammer numbered ‘2239’. In its original oak case lined with green baize most un-usually containing two bullet moulds (one a rare transitional mould) graduated adjustable copper bodied powder flask by James Dixon pewter oil bottle combined loading/cleaning rod and worm and a suede percussion cap bag with label marked ‘Made exclusively for Adams patent revolver’. Retains 90% of its original blue finish. Note: Ex J.B. Bell collection with copy of handwritten note from J.B. Bell concerning the transitional bullet mould stating that this is the only example he had ever seen cased for two bullet moulds.

Very Good Working Order and Crisp Condition, retaining some original colour hardened finish, in their green baize lined brass bound mahogany case, containing a good 3 way copper flask by Dixon, bronze mounted ebony loading/cleaning rod, a pewter oil bottle, and incorrect pincer mould with barrel key (lightly pitted overall). Good Working Order and Clean Condition, retaining approximately 60% of original blued finish, in its green baize lined fitted mahogany case containing a 78 bore pincer mould, a plain copper flask, cleaning rod, nipple key with pricker, screwdriver, tin of Eley percussion caps and oil bottle. Good Working Order and Condition, retaining approximately 50% or original blued finish (very small patches of pitting to cylinder), in an original green baize lined fitted oak case with trade label of R. Adams, depicting prize medals to 1862 and mentioning the “New Breech Loader” revolver, containing a double cavity bronze mould for tailed bullet and ball, stamped with Adams 1851 Registration mark, bag shaped copper flask by Dixon, loading/cleaning rod, and some lead bullets. Good Working Order and Condition, retaining a few faint traces of original finish, in its blue velvet lined fitted mahogany case with instruction label in the lid, containing double cavity steel mould, good bag shaped copper flask of the correct type by Dixon, cleaning rod, and Eley cap tin. A scarce 5 shot 54 bore Tranter double action percussion revolver of Beaumont Adams type, 12” overall, barrel 6”, the top flat engraved “J H Crane, 3 Royal Exchange, London” and with “J H C” monogram, Birmingham proved, the frame engraved “Adams’ Patent No 18276” and stamped with small initials “HH”, chequered walnut butt. Good Working Order and Condition (slightly worn with traces of original finish, the butt cap and lanyard ring modified to fit the butt), in its green baize lined fitted oak case, containing Tranter’s Patent double cavity bronze mould for round nosed bullets, bag shaped copper flask by Sykes, tin of Tranter’s Patent lubricating composition, tin of Kynoch percussion caps and replacement nipple key with pricker and screwdriver. Good Condition (lid and keyhole escutcheons replaced) Plate 43. Note: With this lot is a series of letters from Douglas A. Nie and Tony Taylerson dated 1982 confirming that this is quite a rare Tranter revolver, and that of about 1500 Tranter revolvers recorded by Mr. Nie only 10 or 12 were of this type.

Good Working Order and above average Condition, retaining some original finish (trigger guards reblacked), in their original green baize lined mahogany case with brass carrying handle and trade label in the lid bearing the arms of Prince Albert and “Gun Manufacturer to His Royal Highness Prince Albert”, containing flattened hexagonal section copper flask by Sykes, 13 bore pincer mould (lightly rusted), substantial loading/cleaning rod, screwdriver, turned wood patch box, and a tin of caps. Very Good Working Order and Crisp Condition (barrels lightly refinished), in their green baize lined mahogany case with brass carrying handle, hook catches, and elaborate key hole escutcheon, containing an ebony cleaning rod, 52 bore pincer mould and 3 way brass flask (worn).
