An early 19th century documentary knitting stick, with boxwood strung glazed windows inscribed in ink "Mary Havelock, Forget-me-not, John Burn, Loath & Liberty, January 31st 1938", inlaid with love heart and lozenge. Length 16.7 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The hole at the terminal of the stick is approximately 3 mm in diameter and appears to be in good condition. The knitting stick is generally in good order throughout. Looking directly down holding the glazed section the very very tip of the left-hand side stringing has been chipped however this has been done quite sometime ago and the patination is now consistent with the remainder of the body. The glass panels are also original. There are no major further chips, losses or damage notable however there are minor marks commensurate with age. There is a small section of stringing to the left of the love heart which looks like it has been replaced however it is a very good match
A Victorian Windsor armchair, with stick back and solid seat and raised on turned legs united by stretchers, width across arms 53.5 cm, height to top of back 90 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The chair is complete with no losses. The top rail is in good condition and all spindles are present. There is some evidence of old woodworm to some of the spindles. The tops of both arms are loose around the dowels that attach the arms to the tops of the front spindles. There is a circular hole on the top of each arm above the top of the spindles. The seat has numerous old woodworm holes which are more visible when viewed from the underside. The woodworm has in our opinion long gone. The chair is a little creaky and all of the leg joints are a little loose.
