A Pitcairn Island wooden basket with a walking stick the basket 19.5cm diameter, this lot is accompanied by a photograph and an explanation; The reverse of the photograph is inscribed "Man with hat on is the Chief Magistrate of Pitcairn Island - Mr Morris Young, man with back to camera is Mr Nelson Dyett, the Radio Officer, Pitcairn, who was a passenger on the author's ship. The author was Captain Gerald McCraith, his ship plyed between New Zealand and the UK, always calling in at Pitcairn. The lady in the photograph is most probably Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester who mentions in her autobiography visiting Pitcairn on board the 'Rangitan' in 1947"
