STAR WARS SAGA - Hand-Drawn Yoda as Mickey Mouse Sketch by Ex-ILM Artist Ken Ralston circa 2014An illustration of Yoda wearing Mickey Mouse ears hand-painted by Ken Ralston. After working as an effects cameraman on Star Wars: A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back, Ralston became a VFX supervisor for Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) on Return of the Jedi and dozens of other productions.Ralston gifted this illustration to Lucasfilm historian Jonathan Rinzler following Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012. It features an angry Yoda wearing Mickey Mouse ears with a mini-Mickey on his gimmer stick. The illustration is rendered in mixed media on cardstock signed and dated "14" by Ralston. Also included are a note inscribed to Rinzler by Ralston and a matching envelope addressed to "J." The envelope is torn open and the letter exhibits some edge wear. Jedi Master Yoda used his signature gimer stick, a gift from a tribe of Wookies, while talking to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) before his death on Dagobah. This molded, curved handled resin stick is painted greenish-brown and features a decorative notch at the collar and a hole in the bottom for a puppeteering rod. The stick exhibits scuffing around the handle and has had a fracture in the staff sympathetically restored following production . The napkin is stained and crumpled, while the chips exhibit stains and grime from production use and age. Pair of early 20th century Royal Crown Derby Mansion House dwarf figures, both bearing slogans to their hats, 'Theatre Royal Wednesday Night, Wednesbury' and 'A Small Farm to be sold by Auction by Mr Lindop', with purple D backstamp, 21cm high. (2)CONDITION REPORT: Mr Lindop - paint to the top of the hat is rubbed and there is firing mark to the side. There is a small series of nibbles to the rim of the hat. The purple painted base is unglazed and appears to be re-finished. There is minor fading to the glaze and staining to the underside.Theatre Royal - Minor rubbing to the lettering on the central panel of the hat. The feather finials have minor rubbing and areas of paint lacking. The stick is repaired at the top of the base. The paint is chipped to the underside of the hat. There is a small chip to the glaze on the base and nibbles to the glaze on the base also. Has age-related crazing to the underside.
