Who drew that!? and signed his name (in typical fashion H. Kurtz with an additional stick figure of a man) in black ink to a light area at the base of the image; Will Elder (1921-2008) American Illustrator and comic book artist. Illustrated A.L.S., Will Elder, one page, 8vo, Englewood, New Jersey, 25th October 1980, to Lois Burch, in full `Your poem was an egos delight, it obliged me this to write, at your behest and my behalf, the subject I love best-my autograph!` At the base of the letter Elder has drawn a colour head and shoulders sketch of Annie Fanny; Jerry DeFuccio (1925-2001) American comic book writer. T.L.S., Jerry, one page, 4to, Madison Avenue, New York, 14th February 1968, to Jim, on the colour printed stationery of Mad. DeFuccio writes to his friend, commenting on his own collection of original comic artwork and the recent additions he has made, but also commenting on work for the magazine, `We`ve had a big shot in the arm recently with artist/writer Jack Kent breaking into the ranks with very charming material. You`ll see his "Sex Education In the Schools" in a forthcoming issue. Bob Molyneux sent Kent to us. Actually, Kent had hit us with some submissions ten years ago, about the time of the demise of his "King Aroo" strip, and went away discouraged. All the stuff in the covers-ideas folder is very flat. We`ve picked through it time and again. We had to key our next cover on the "Balmy & Clod" (Bonnie & Clyde) parody inside the issue.` VG, 3
