Both stick pins have damage to the pendant hands, otherwise the charms are in good condition. The necklace needs re-stringing; the beads are mostly cylindrical and vary in diameter 3.5-5mm Weight of round bead necklace - 32.6g

A Victorian Scottish mahogany mercury stick barometer James Mackay Bryson, Edinburgh, circa 1860 The arched bone vernier scale calibrated in barometric inches and with the usual observations beneath stamped signature J. M. BRYSON. 60 PRINCES ST, EDINBURGH opposing Fahrenheit and Centigrade scale mercury thermometer, the slender trunk with visible tube over domed oak cistern cover to the shield-shaped base fitted with level adjustment screw to underside, 91.5cm (36ins) high. James Mackay Bryson is recorded in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETER MAKERS AND RETAILERS 1660-1900 as apprenticed to George Buchanen before going to Germany in 1843 to study instrument making in Hamburg and Munich. He returned in 1850 and is recorded working from several buildings on Princes Street, Edinburgh, 1850-93, including number 60 1855-66.

A large Derby figure of John Wilkes c.1765-70, standing and resting one hand on a square plinth, atop of which rests a scroll, draped in a long pink cloak over a gilt patterned waistcoat, a putto to his right, holding a phrygian cap on the end of a stick and supporting a book titled 'Lock [sic] on Gov't', raised on a scrolled base, minor damages, 31.5cm. Provenance: The Property of the late Anthony Hobson, The Glebe House, Whitsbury, Hampshire. John Wilkes (1725-1797) was an English politician and radical journalist whose criticism of the King in his magazine The North Briton earned him a warrant for his arrest for libel in 1763. Citing parliamentary privilege he was cleared of the charge and went on to become Lord Mayor of London in 1774.
