Air Training Auxiliary Husband & Wife, Important Ephemera, Charles Dutton (7th Baron Sherborne) the famous "one armed " Pilot and his wife Joan Dutton (nee Dunn). Includes General Record for Charles with aircraft Ferry Record January 1941 to April 1944 includes Spitfires, Swordfish, Typhoon etc. and full accident record (of six listed 3 "Pilot held responsible" and one finding sheet attached covering a Typhoon in April 1944 and loose another Typhoon in June 1944),also General "performance record on reverse with additional sheet attached (interesting comments and signatures). General Record (card two only) for Mrs C.Dutton with aircraft flown from 1944 to November 1945 and General record on reverse. In addition Aircraft collection chits, one in triplicate for Spitfire August 1945, another for Tempest later in the same month, also ATA Certificate for Mrs C.Dutton. Included is signed letter from Diana Barnato Walker an ex ATA Pilot with a copy of relevant pages from her book referring to Charles Dutton in which he describes flying with the stick between his knees and using his own good arm and mouth (for maps) to good effect! A Victorian diamond cluster ring with stick pin fitting, the 18 carat gold broad shanked ring with a removable old mine cut diamond cluster, approximately 0.92 carats total, the shank hallmarked Birmingham 1880, finger size S, 10.6g gross, together with a stickpin setting that the diamond cluster screws into, in original dark burgundy leather gold tooled case, with fitted blue velvet interiorCondition Report: The diamonds are all present and corcet, bright and lively, clarity SI-I, colour H-I, assessed in yellow gold setting. There is thinning to the claws, one claw has had the tip rubbed off. The screw fitting into the ring and pin are still in good order. There is some light wear to the shank. Some wear to the stick pin. [Royal interest] A stags tooth set gold stick pin, reputed to have been shot by Prince Albert Victor at Balmoral, 1876, the red stags tooth set as an acorn above textured gold branch and oak leaf setting, dated to the reverse Oct. 2nd 1876., terminal 2.3cm long, 4.1g gross Prince Albert (1819-1861)introduced the German to Britian of tradition mounting stags teeth as acorns with oak leaf detail, with the date of the kill inscribed to the reverse. Albert Victor, Prince, Duke of Clarence and Avondale (1864-1892), was the eldest son of the Prince and Princess of Wales (later Edward VII and Queen Alexandra) and grandson of Queen Victoria. He was born at Frogmore House 8 January 1864, and at his birth was second in line to the British throne. Albert Victor died during the Influenza Pandemic of 1889/1892 at the age of 28, making his brother, Prince George, next in line to the succession after their father.Condition Report: Believed to have been purchased from Mary, princess Royal, Countess of Harewood sale of items, Christie's.
