A Japanese carved ivory okimono of a toy seller, Meiji period (1868-1912), finely carved, the man with a sinuous root stick over his shoulder, suspending a variety of toys and novelties, his left hand holding a mask, 3 7/8in. (9.8cm.) high.* Condition: Section of sinuous root wood behind head has been expertly restored in carved faux ivory, plus two other similar, smaller repairs to ends of these fine roots below shoulders. Otherwise good, with no other damage.
