WW2 Polish Brooch Badges and Stick Pin, including small white metal with painted wreath badge for the 1st Independent Rifle Brigade. Badge has pin back fitting on the reverse and Collins London makers mark. Small white metal V with Polish eagle to the centre, white metal pin back badge of the 2nd Motorised Artillery regiment and Polish eagle stick pin with DSP to the centre of the lower shield. He was perhaps best known for his long-standing hit 'I Love a Lassie' and for his international success. He was described by Sir Winston Churchill as 'Scotland's greatest ever ambassador!' He became a familiar world-wide figure promoting images like the kilt and the cromach (walking stick) to huge acclaim, especially in America. By 1911, Lauder had become the highest-paid performer in the world, and was the first Scottish artist to sell a million records.

Scarce late 19th century South-East African 'Baboon Master' walking stick or staff with carved baboon figure top and long plain shaft swelling slightly at the tip, 120cm overall. The 'Baboon Master' worked in the region of Durban in the 1880s and 1890s with his signature baboon carving incorporated into the handles of his sticks. The sticks were popular purchases for the British Troops serving in the South African and Boer Wars. Provenance: Purchased by the vendor in a stick stand with other sticks thirty years ago CONDITION REPORT Overall condition is very good and fine rich deep patination. Baboon's tail finishes abruptly, has possible loss to end. Minor split runs from top of shaft over knop adjacent with one of the baboon's back legs.
