A 19th Century Canton ivory fan, the guardsticks profusely carved in relief with figures in formal gardens and pavilions and fine multi-layered floral decoration, the interleaf sticks brise-carved with figures and foliage, the paper leaf richly painted to both side with multiple figures in the Mandarin Court and procession with horses, the faces painted on miniature ivory plaques, mounted with silvered loop and coloured silk tassel, 28cm, to/w a somewhat similar Cantonese fan with pierced sandalwood and bone sticks, the paper leaf painted on each side with Manchu/Chinese families at leisure, 28cm, Qing Dynasty (2)1st fan has one broken stick and several areas of wear to the leaf, crudely repaired with clear tape; 2nd fan has three broken sticks and other areas of wear or deterioration.
