An early 19th-century birds eye maple and inlaid mercury stick barometer, signed John Cail, Newcastle, the curved and narrow body terminating with an architectural urn cistern cover, 95 cm x 12 cm.Condition report: Good overall cosmetic condition, with only some losses evident to the upper silvered backing. Light surface marks elsewhere. Mercury appears to move well, but not tested for atmospheric accuracy or temperature. Cistern is concealed.
