Lot 617

A pair of 18th century brass candlesticks, pewter inkwell and brass pen stand. Candlestick height 16.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Both candlesticks are in generally good condition. There are no visible repairs, perforations or fractures. The circular foot rim on both candlesticks is very slightly misshapen and both have lead weighted solder in the bottom recess of the centre of the stick.

Lot 1074

An Arts & Crafts oak hall stick stand, with relief embossed metal panels and with drip tray to base. Width 56 cm, height 105 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Height 105 cm, width at widest point 55.5 cm, depth 26.5 cm. We can see no evidence of any makers mark. The condition is generally good. There is no evidence of any breaks or any damage to the oak carcass or the embossed metal panels. The drip tray is intact. The piece is simply a little dirty and requires a clean.

Lot 909

A 19th century rosewood inlaid mother of pearl stick barometer, by Blachford & Imray, London. CONDITION REPORT: The brass cistern cover appears to have later retaining screws. The rosewood case is in generally good original condition as is the mother of pearl. The sides of the piece are in good order. The vernier adjustment screw operates as it should. The angled scales are a little dirty and discoloured and the right hand scale has a hairline crack in the bottom right hand corner. The top moulding above the scale but below the cornice and pediment is a later replacement. This is loose. The pediment is original. There is an hinged bracket to the rear of the barometer which is a later replacement presumably in the absence of the gimbal. There is no mercury visible in the tube.

Lot 984

A George III mahogany stick barometer, with paper label, by Arthur Hudson. CONDITION REPORT: The pediment is in good order. The construction of the barometer is professional and the glazed door is of square. The hinges appear to be original. The paper label is in generally good order with very minor discolouration. The door hinges are probably later replacements. The main body of the barometer is in generally good order as the are the sides and back. The cistern cover which we cannot remove is in good condition also. There is no mercury in the tube. There have been some minor repairs to the crossbanding around the door.

Lot 956

A George III mahogany stick barometer, by Jeremiah & Walter Watkins, circa 1790, Charing Cross, London. Height including finial 102 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This barometer is in first class condition and could be used or re-sold in its current state without the need for any repairs or restoration. There is a very small scuff to the right-hand top corner below the swans neck. The dial is brass and has clearly recently been re-silvered. The mahogany is of extremely good quality and the polish is good. There is an old stress crack to the bottom half of the cistern cover but this is not problematic. The piece is really in extremely good condition.

Lot 69

A collection of Victorian cranberry glassware, including 2 scent bottles, 4 custard glasses, pair of Jack in The Pulpit vases, etc. (17) CONDITION REPORT: One Jack in the Pulpit vase is in good order. The second vase has a hairline crack running from the top tip down into the body of the vase to the top of the trailed decoration. The small scent flask etched to the base Bristol is missing the top of the scent stick and the scent stick itself is broken and inside the vase. The three wine glasses are in good order. The two scent bottles are in good order. The cream jug has a break and loss to one foot. The four custard glasses are in good order. The squat vase is in good order. The rinsing bowl is in good order. The small salt or vase with the pincered rim is in good order. The large bowl with loop handle has a rim chip and a firing mark to the base.
