Taxidermy: a large and impressive 19th Century coat and stick stand by Perret & Fils & Vibert, Paris, featuring a large stuffed bear climbing up a bamboo branched stand, the base formed from further shafts of bamboo to contain walking sticks and umbrellas, bearing mother of pearl label inscribed Perret & Fils & Vibert, 33 Rue de 4 Septembre, Paris, 249cm or 8ft 2in high over all. Note: this item is listed under CITES, so the buyer will need to obtain export/re-port permits if they wish to ship this item out of Europe.
A Chinese white-glazed stoneware Joss Stick Holder 17th/18th Century Modelled as a seated Dog of Fo, on a rectangular plinth base 5 7/8 in. (15 cm.) high. Provenance: Trelawney Antiques, Penzance, where purchased by the present owner in 1979. The accompanying receipt also states that this piece was shown to the late G. Hodgson (a member of the Oriental Ceramics Society) who assessed it as certainly 17th or 18th Century but possibly earlier.
