WWI - Walking stick. An ash walking stick, the handle forming the head of an army officer, sporting a monocle and bushy moustache with a skull and crossbones motif on the front of his cap, approx. 94 cm long The caricature may be based on Herbert Charles Onslow Plumer, first Viscount Plumer (1847-1932) who rose to the rank of General during the First World War and was known amongst the troops as 'Daddy Plumer'. He has been suggested as the inspiration for Colonel Blimp. (DNB) (1)
