A stunt knife prop from the production of John McTiernan's survival film Predator (20th Century Fox, 1987). Written in 1984 under the working title Hunter, the film follows an elite military squad sent on a rescue mission to the Central American rain forest who find themselves in the crosshair of a deadly extraterrestrial. The knife is made of lightweight wood. The blade is painted gray with silvered edges to resemble metal and the grip is painted black with a small hole drilled through the end. This style of weapon can be seen being used by "Mac" (Bill Duke) as he flings a bloodied dog tag to "Dutch" (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and cuts several picked over corpses down from where they were found, hanging in a tree. Additionally, Dutch crafts a spear by tying a knife to a long stick in preparation for his final confrontation with the Predator.20.75 x 4.5 inches
